Losgate

Demographics

The city is mostly well-known for its high number of drakelings that clean the city's many canals and waterways. A large number of dwarven merchants also do business here, and there is a handful of Êrdawr here as a result.

Government

The city has no Lord Mayor, unlike other cities of its size in the Gratic Empire. The Head Magistrate of Schinter controls the city directly from the Sea Fort.

Industry & Trade

The city is mainly supported by its large merchant class, with merchants coming from all over Endaman to do trade here. It is also on the main road that connects the Kingdom of Hayim and the heartland of the Gratic Empire.

Infrastructure

The city uses a remarkable maze of canals for quick travel around the city - unless they're not frozen, that is. A large wall surrounds the city, and the various waterways are bridged in many places. The city's south side is dominated by the Sea Fort, a large purposefully flooded fortress.

Guilds and Factions

The Imperial Navy has a large presence here due to the large number of pirates and sailing ships on Lake Lós. Other Imperial institutions, such as The College of Mages, The Imperial Army, and the Imperial Temple, have a significant presence here.

History

The peoples that built the first island piles and stone canals of Losgate were here long before the Empire. After the Empire conquered the region in the First Era, they added the dockyards and walls that are now hallmarks of the city.

Geography

The city is built on the shifting sands of the swamplands south of Lake Lós, with the main harbour located on that body of water. A collection of islands lie just north of the city, with rumours that pirates have made their homes there.

Natural Resources

The swamps the city was built on don't provide much beyond peat and some fish, but the rich waters of Lake Lós nearly feed the city on their own.
