The College of Mages

Structure

The College of Mages is run by a Dean, who is elected to serve for a five-year term by a council of his peers. This council is some fifty people strong and are the wisest and most knowledgeable mages in The Gratic Empire. They, in turn, run smaller academies and schools throughout the Empire, where they advise various teachers and students.

The standardization of magical education.

The promotion of magical education across the Empire.

The protection of young and/or vulnerable mages.

Assets

The College controls many small academies scattered across the Empire. Larger towns and cities will also have a local guild of mages for those who have completed their studies. The College also has some representatives in Limbo, although they are far outnumbered there. Due to funding from the imperial government, they also are relatively well-off.

History

The College was founded in the early days of the Empire as a magical military arm of The Imperial Army, but quickly became instead concerned with the education of mages. This caused a rocky relationship between the the College and the government as centuries passed, but the modern College and the modern government are on good terms.
