1: highest wordcount article 2: article spent working on the most 3: deleted articles to review why they were deleted
Sounds great to summarize the achievements of the year in such a way!
Definitely feel that there should be opt-in (either in whole or in part) - I see the demotivation aspect to it, but I would love to have it personally, I am motivated by that (most days) I liked the idea presented of being stuff in your control, not things like likes or comments.
I love this idea! Seeing the Article, Groups/Categories you spent the most time in. Maybe which reader spent the most time in your world. Longest writing streaks, time of day you write the most. There are so many options.
I see this not as a competitive thing but a cool and helpful goal setting and self reflective tool which would be neat and useful to have. I'd be in.
I think this kind of feature could be very polarizing. Some people will love it; others might hate it. In my view, WA already has an issue in that a few authors get lots of likes and attention (most often deserved, as they are excellent), but some quite good authors get practically none. Would this kind of feature exacerbate that? Or exacerbate the disappointment of those that don't get much attention? I don't really know, but I think that it's an issue that should be thought through before implementing the feature.
I'd love to see this happen! I think it'd be good to have this as an opt-in feature, so people who don't want to see these kind of stats don't have to and those who want can ask for them. And while we're at that, might as well "opt-in" for specific stats. I can imagine that it's fun to see the likes and comments you've given back to the community, but I can also imagine that it could be demotivating to see the (often perceived lack of) likes and comments you've received. If well executed, this could be a very versatile feature and addition to WorldAnvil. ^^
It would be interesting to see which article you spent the most time working on
I would like it to be customizable, so that you can turn it on and off in profile settings, and it could be veiwable on worlds
It would be easy enough to make this an opt-in feature, and at this point in my life (46 years) the only person I compete with is myself.
Yes to an anvil wrapped that shows _your work_ - Words written, articles written, used tags, longest articles, etc. No to including likes/follows/comments - That's not something under your control and can just be very demotivating.
I think this could really cool! It could have stats like how many articles you've created this year as well, or just show some of the stuff you've put the most work into like the articles and stuff you've made with the most detail or with the highest word count ^^ Basically showing all the stuff you've created or added to your worlds throughout the year and how much you've interacted with the community and other people's worlds, to encourage people to be keep being creative and to keep creating stuff! ^^
If you feel you’d be demotivated or saddened by it, by no means would you have to look at it. There are several WA features I don’t use simply because they don’t help me. I personally find having goals and pushing myself to improve each year to be extremely motivating, and I’d love to see how many articles I created throughout the year and how many words I wrote to give me concrete goals to surpass.
Honestly I'd hate to click this and feel embarrassed and demotivated by it.
I think it's a great idea! It's very easy to forget how much work one has done and this would be a good motivation boost.
I’m not sure following in the footsteps of platforms that already have this feature is going to encourage the right spirit in creatives. Especially for smaller or lesser known authors it can and will result in greater demotivation or worse when being actively engaged in comparison culture. It’s fine for people who are already heavily marketed on the community but I just don’t think it will have a widely positive influence. This sort of trend should be kept as an individual creating their own “year in review” as has already been demonstrated in years gone by. To;dr I don’t think encouraging chasing likes/comments is healthy when looking at how other platforms suffer from artist/author burnouts because they feel pressure to chase numbers.
I'm obsessed with the wrapped features on other platforms. It would be so fun to see what I've been doing on WorldAnvil over the course of a year!
Words added, articles added, template you used the most, who your biggest fans are (who've liked the most articles), and which badges you earned would all be fun! Maybe also your most-liked community post? So many options!
I think this would be an amazing feature to allow us to celebrate a year of achievement.
omg yes all the coins to this, it's such a fun idea and it helps encourage my favourite part of worldbuilding, the community engagement!
