Considering how designers are allowed to craft their own calendars, I'm afraid this might not be possible to do. But if it is possible, I agree this would be a very good thing to have.
Full date (month, day, year, epoch, era, whatever) would be great, especially since we can define them ourselves.
I have noticed this also and it would be nice to have it work with the full dates if supplied. Whilst I understand that the different calendars would make the calculations potentially a little different from an "off the shelf" date comparison, the custom calendars are still based on simple number progressions for the months and days and it should only be a question of comparing the month numbers (and day numbers only if we are in the same as the birth month). If you wanted to calculate the exact number of days after a birthday into a specific year, that would be harder (due to variable days in months) but it is not necessary for this basic request.
Yes, yes, yes! This is a major reason why I manually imput my characters' ages instead of using the categories.
This is a great idea. It need not even be complicated. It'd just be "if (currentMonth > birthMonthage++;};
I like the idea, even if the implementation seems like it might be complicated.
I agree it would be very nice, but I imagine it would be very complicated due to the varying calendars. Would love to have this if it's (reasonably) possible though!
This would be nice to have so long as it doesn't break anything.
Agreed, but this might be harder to implement than it seems, since different worlds may have different calendar systems, making the date calculation not quite so straightforward.
This is a great idea. While the ability to insert an override age exists, this needs to be manually updated, which can be awkward for keeping track if the world's date progresses (e.g. if it is an RPG world). Moreover, if both a date of birth and a date of death is included, then an age iof death s automatically added and doesn't seem to be able to be overridable at all.
Fantastic suggestion! It would also be good if the day of birth could be taken into account, if possible.
YES. Calculating by year makes absolutely no sense, when you can set the current time of your world by day and month. What's the point of being able to set the day and month of your world, if your characters' ages aren't going to be calculated the same way?
With all the possible calendars, I am not sure this is possible. But if it is, I am for it.
