14. An Interview with a Vampire

The party spent an hour or so resting in the confines of the abandoned mansion while also discussing their next course of action. Most seemed to prefer leaving the estate to inform the Order of Avalon, though before they could do so, sunset had fallen upon them and their host had returned to greet them. Anatoly Yevgen promptly invited the party back into the mansion so that they may converse, to which they ultimately agreed. Their conversation shed some light on Anatoly’s interest in Andrea, marking the vampire as something of an anomaly, before they decided to return to Vesium so that Andrea may reunite with her mother. After the trek back to the city, the party escorted Andrea and Anatoly back to the apartment in the Southern district where Anatoly made a request for them to provide two replacements to the spawn they had destroyed. Shaken by the day’s events, Kent seemed to agree, before the party retired for the night themselves.   The following day, Kent attempted to report the encounter to the Order of Avalon; however, he was placed under arrest for attempting to traverse the facility with invisibility magic. Some time later, Lenora collected Kent and allowed him to relate the previous night’s occurrences to the archbishop, who also inquired on the party’s progress with his task. Once Kent returned to the inn, the party decided to abscond from the city as soon as possible, for fear of the vampire’s retaliation. Moving eastward to Yorven in their search for Vesius’ courier, a band of bandits attacked their camp in the middle of the night, led by the familiar nuisance of a leader, Lyzer Fes. Even with the presence of an enemy mage, the party thwarted the attack with the bandit leader calling for a retreat. However, the enemy mage seemed to have knowledge of the missing courier, giving the party some lead as they neared Yorven.
"They do not trust me. I suppose I have given them little reason, and perhaps them to me."
