13. The Abandoned Estate
Taking the White West Path, the party found themselves among the more privileged and well-to-do abodes of Vesium’s nobility and upper class. Asking around, they found themselves investigating the now abandoned home of a scholar named Piotr Malsh. After spending some time scouting the estate, Kent managed to find a way into the premises as well as the mansion itself. Further search of the residence turned up a lockbox and the traces of the supposedly empty home being disturbed. The bulk of their time went to examining a study, and after some analysis of the paintings therein, the adventurers discovered a hidden passage leading down to a basement. One of the rooms contained vampire spawn nested in crates of dirt. They engaged the hostile spawn in battle, setting the crates themselves on fire, and with Buzz almost falling to the same fate as Andraste. However, in the middle of the fight, a young woman who they identified as Andrea, appeared in as much surprise of them as they to her from the basement lab. After some conversing, and a divine attack from Andraste that nearly killed the young woman, the adventurers convinced Andrea to order the spawn to cease their hostilities. They discovered that Andrea had been staying with vampires, including one named Anatoly Yevgen, with the promise of a funded education. Now with the target of their search in reach, the group has taken to a short rest in order to determine their next course of action: whether to flee or have an audience with Andrea’s vampiric companion.
