Jessamine
Jessamine is a water genie from the City of Brass, the wife of Kumar, and the mother of Saka.
Always curious about the world beyond the realm of the genies, the young Jessamine ventured into the deserts beyond the Smoldering Divide via a method unknown to the party...it seemed she could transport herself to bodies of water on the far side of the divide. From hiding, she would observe the mysterious ways of the desert folk.
But one man she observed captured her heart - Kumar, the venturesome prince of Zahar. Each fascinated by the other's world, their forbidden love swelled over many covert meetings. They were secretly married in a private ceremony consecrated to Hippolyta, Queen of Rivers.
When Jessamine gave birth to the half-genie Saka, the child had no safe home. Because of their ancient emnity, children with human ancestry were forbidden in the City of Brass, just as Kumar's father would have been scandalized by his own son marrying a genie. So the child lived among the Waziri Clan under the care of the couple's trustworthy friend, Sheik Waziri.
Jessamine continued to visit her family as often as possible, emerging from an oasis. She would entertain her child with unbelievable tales of the genie world's inexhaustible magic. After her husband was killed, the grieving Jessamine still continued to visit Saka, who grew into a teenager and became a cleric of the river goddess. But in the past six months, Jessamine's visits suddenly ceased. With no word from his mother, Saka and the party have set out for the City of Brass to determine her whereabouts.
