Kumar XIV
Kumar XIV was the previous Sultan of Zahar and the father of both Kumar and Rashad.
His one hostility was towards the threat of genie incursion. Raised as he was on harrowing tales of the ancient conflicts between pharaonic Zahar and the City of Brass, his greatest fear was that genies might one day cross the Smoldering Divide and penetrate Zahar's walls. Kumar XIV strictly forbade communication with genies and the smuggling of genie artifacts, and was known to treat Zahar's small population of half-genies with cold suspicion.
A Golden Age
Scion to a stable patrilineal dynasty, Kumar XIV ruled over Zahar and its vast territories for over three decades...a prosperous period often considered the height of modern Zahari civilization. His promotion of trade, scholarship, and religious tolerance shaped Zahar into the cosmopolitan city it is today. Humble despite his status, he was beloved by many of the Janissaries, chatting with the lowest ensigns like a friend. His one hostility was towards the threat of genie incursion.
