Kumar
Kumar was a prince of Zahar, older brother to Rashad, and the father of Saka.
When Jessamine gave birth to Saka, the half-genie child was welcome neither in Zahar nor in Jessamine's home, the City of Brass. Kumar entrusted the boy to the Sheik, to be raised among the Waziri Clan. Kumar visited the child whenever his duties would allow, often joined by Jessamine, and they cherished their hidden family life.
Raised for Rule
As the heir to the throne, Kumar was groomed for his future as sultan by his father Kumar XIV. The sultan brought his two sons along for all his royal business, whether in the palace, the city, or the surrounding desert. The young Kumar was fascinated by the natural landscape, especially its many sacred oases, and became a devotee of Hippolyta with his father's blessing.Love and Secrecy
It was on a solitary pilgrimage to one such oasis that Kumar met the curious water genie Jessamine. They fell in love and arranged many future meetings, but since Kumar XIV strictly forbade any interaction with geniekind, these had to be done under various pretenses. No one knew of the prince's secret courtship or eventual marriage to Jessamine except for his closest friend and confidant, Sheik Waziri. When Jessamine gave birth to Saka, the half-genie child was welcome neither in Zahar nor in Jessamine's home, the City of Brass. Death and Legacy
Kumar was poisoned, along with his father, by the Cult of Horak, and his brother became sultan. Rashad somehow knows about the existence of Saka, the only rival to his claim to the throne, and has tried unsucessfuly to assassinate him.
