Izarity

Founded by one “Saint Izaros” roughly eleven centuries ago, the Izaric Faith is ditheistic. They believe in Illithane, the singular god of light, creation, knowledge, and love, and Malathrane, singular god of darkness, destruction, and corruption.

According to the teachings of the church, in the beginning, there was Illithane. He existed within the darkness, but became lonely. He spoke to the darkness and it spoke back. From his voice, his greatest enemy, Malathrane, was born. The two talked and eventually fought in the complete darkness that was pre-existence. Illithane grew tired of not being able to see Malathrane, so he scattered small pieces of himself into the dark. These became the stars. He gathered a number of them, combining them into an orb of great light which he called the sun. He placed the sun between the two of them, casting their shadows into the void. From Illithane's shadow sprang the Archangels. From Malathrane’s sprang the Demon Lords. After that, Illithane ripped down the curtain of darkness, and blew into his hands, creating a ball that became the world. That world was then filled with living creatures, all created by Illithane. Looking on with spite, Malathrane corrupted a number of these creatures. He created the Undead and Infernals to plague the world, thus plunging the mortal world into an endless back-and-forth.
They are one of the few religions in all Wyrth that believes in more than one heaven. They believe that Celestia, the land of Angel, is where Illithane is. They also believe that, when they die, they will go to Prosperia, living in the paradise found by fulfilling all the dreams they had in life.
Finally, Izarity is one of the only religions to have all three of “Church Affiliate” titles – Priest, Templar, and Exorcist – among their members. The Templars are expected to serve as sentinels. They are not like those in service to many other faiths (e.g. Church of the Red God) who are crusaders, seeking to "turn or burn", but rather serve as protectors of all those who believe. This isn't to say they completely ignore the unbeliever, but their top priority is those who serve Illithane. The Priests are teachers. They serve as wandering prophets and missionaries, but have the ability to heal the sick and dispel evil if need be.
Exorcists are commonly referred to as the "blade" of the church. When things go very wrong, it is the Exorcists that are expected to lend aid. If something is beyond the abilities of a Priest, an Exorcist will handle the situation. They are the offensive version of the Templar. While a Templar is perfectly capable of fighting, they are hardly as skilled or knowledgeable as the Exorcists. To boil it all down, they are the elite. This isn’t true of all faiths – Templars are generally considered to be some of the best warriors anywhere – but it is true of Izarity.
The reward for these servants of the church is Sainthood. Currently, there are eight Saints: Albion, Carthege, Castiel, Faust, Izaros, Krieg, Pietr, and Roose. Achieving Sainthood is incredibly difficult, and most don’t even receive this title until they have died. The current number are not eight living Saints, but eight total. The church also believes in Archangels, revering all of the named Archangels, but they do not hold them to godhood.

Divine Origins

One of the interesting things about the church's founding is that, though a traditionally Altian faith, founded in Kalastrad, St. Izaros was a Thepolian, which is why the church uses their language, rather than Tesprek.
