Shatterglass Guild
The Shatterglass Guild came into being around the training and governance of those mages and glassworkers involved in creating Shatterglass. It is one of Galanthis' large guilds, in no small part because of the popularity of the technology.
Glassmakers are those who create the glass that will end up bespelled. Though they have many things in common with those who create glass for other purposes, the Guild realized early on that for the small differences in creation, it would be far easier to train their own glassworkers.
The Spellcasters are those who take the glass and actually bespell it to create Shatterglass. Shatterglass Guild mages dedicate their life to this craft, and are far better at it than other mages who might try. There are hard-won secrets passed down only within the Guild that help them succeed.
The Guildmaster or Guildmistress
This person is in charge of the running of the guild itself. They must be a master of the craft but also must be a good politician and spokesperson for the entire guild. They are in charge of paperwork, financials, etc. This person is elected by the Masters of the Guild and serve until abdication or death, unless the Masters convene a special vote and 3/5 of the Masters vote to replace them.
Grandmaster Glassmaker and Grandmaster Spellcaster
Appointed by the Guildmaster or Guildmistress, the Grandmasters are the heads of each Guild division. They are expected to be both masters of their respective craft and good teachers, as well as at least somewhat familiar with the workings of the other division. Often, the Grandmaster Spellcaster is at least a Journeyman Glassmaker; the Grandmaster Glassmaker may be a Journeyman Spellcaster if they are a mage, or they must show very intricate knowledge of the book-workings of the division if they are not.
Masters
Below the Division Heads are the Masters of each division, with some distinction given in the way of honorary titles for those of distinguised years of service. Masters have shown mastery of their respective craft and are full, voting members of the guild who may take their own Journeymen and Apprentices if they choose.
Journeymen
Below the Masters are the Journeymen, those who are proving their skills through work and creation of master works. Each Journeyman reports to a Master. Journeymen are also usually responsible for helping teach the basic skills to their Master's apprentices.
Apprentices
Finally there are the Apprentices, who are in the first stages of learning their craft. Apprentices may start assigned to the Guild as a whole, but they cannot become Journeymen until claimed by a Master.
Guild Divisions
The Shatterglass guild has two divisions, because they have two very different crafts being practiced together.Glassmakers
