Government
Duke Helire rules the town from his villa which overlooks the city. Most of the bureaucracy is taken care of by smaller city departments housed in offices in the Archbell District.
Defences
King's Beach was originally surrounded by a thick, well-built brick wall to defend against attacks by land. As the city outgrew the original defenses, it spilled out and continued to grow, consuming several smaller villages and eventually requiring the construction of a second city wall. At present, there are a few outlying buildings which are situated outside the city wall and the city's growth has arrested with plenty of room for further construction within the current wall.
Industry & Trade
In addition to the guilds mentioned, tourists are common and frequent in King's Beach, seeking relaxation and recreation in the city's numerous taverns, inns, exotic shops, and famed sandy beaches. Tourism runs most of the local economy during spring, summer and autumn. During the winter, most of the recreational shops and inns shutter their doors and the city subsists on local trading partners and shipping trade.
Guilds and Factions
There are several major guilds in King's Beach, including chapter houses for the Boatwrights' Guild, the Clockwork Guild, and the Galleymasters' Guild of the Federated Merchants of Kargasa. The local guilds are the Ironworker's Guild, the Entertainer's Guild, the Stoneworker's Guild, the Adventurer's Guild, and the Enchanter's Guild. There is a thieves' guild and a chapter house for the writing of Black Books, but these are covert and un-advertised.
Tourism
Largely a tourist location, known for its beautiful beaches and warm temperatures.
Geography
King's Beach is located on the South coast of Galavnaya where the Nira River empties into the sea. It was constructed on the flat delta of the river after extensive terraforming had been done to raise the level of the ground without blocking the path of the river itself. The resulting land was sturdy and protected against erosion for the most part, but also resulted in the shallowing of the bay and the introduction of numerous white sand beaches along the shoreline.
