Hector sent Rick to page at the Star Cliffs for his uncle Jostif when Rick was 15. Given how unorthodox his own family was, Rick had no trouble finding his footing in the household with almost a dozen children running around and cared for by two men and a woman. Rick and Jostif butted heads occasionally due to Jostif's laid-back approach to many things and Rick's more rigid approach to security, but they always came back to some kind of family balance.
History
Naylor served on the Mosakki Star when Jostif had retired from active sailing and was sponsoring merchant trips from Star Cliffs. Jostif met with Naylor many times, eventually promoting him to captain of the Mosakki Star in 622.
