Firstsong Islands
The Firstsong Islands are a relatively small archipelago of islands on the far Voidward rim of Waking Materia, straddling the boundary between its Gamma and Delta Quadrants, 270° from Stargrave. They lie to the Voideast of Valamon and to the Voidwest of the Autumn Isles, a periphery of the Broken Empire. They are also known as the Islands of the Beloved First Song or the Koroan Islands, after their chief residents the Noa-Aina-Koroa.
Highly unique and with a deep written history, the Koroans were one of the earliest First Age nations to separate from the First Empires, possibly the second after the Iyō split from Alanthan'aravaut and several hundred years before the Age of Fractionation where most such nations originated.Geography

So far from the the Sunken Expanse of the planar core, the Firstsongs have a relatively warm and stable climate. Though there is a great deal of haunted and monster-infested ocean surrounding them, the Koroans are superb sailors and have made contact with the Valamonians, Autumn Enari and Gondarans as early as the Late Second Age.
Culture
After centuries of on-and-off warfare with the Nireauans in the First Age of Man, the Koroans enjoyed a relatively peaceful and prosperous era after their ancient enemies were cast asunder by the Deluge, however it was not to last: before dying beneath the waves, the Nireauans cursed them with eternal scorn beyond death, and hauntings by restless ghosts have plagued the Firstsongs ever since. The Noa-Aina-Koroa are now a hardened and vigilant people, hopeful that one day the curse may be broken.
