Stargrave

Stargrave is a highly unusual phenomenon in an isolated location of the vast ocean between Valamon to the west and Tiam's Cradle to the east, on the plane of Waking Materia. It is generally used as the "zero point" of rotational geography on Materia, akin to "true north" on Earth.

In the simplest sense, Stargrave can be described as a colossal and dense mass of clouds with odd dimensional properties, inside of which are kilometres of windowless, doorless, vertical towers, made of an invulnerable, marble-like substance.

Concepts of movement and space do not work properly inside the clouds: one could fly in a straight direction for an eternity, only to turn around and immediately exit where they just entered. No known method of breaching these clouds exists. The towers within are only accessible when the clouds break and reveal them naturally, which is rare. And even if one manages to reach the towers, they have no method of ingress: there are no portals, mundane or otherwise, and the rocky, white substance they're comprised of is effectively indestructible. There is no top or bottom to the towers: they inevitably disappear into the spacially anomalous mists.

Geography

The cloud bank rotates erratically around a territory of open ocean about 20 km in diameter, about 200 km inward from Materia's planar edge.

Materians generally use Stargrave as the "zero point" in rotational geography: the plane's Alpha Quadrant, for example, begins at Stagrave and ends at 90° West/clockwise. Material West, in an Earth sense, is clockwise from Stargrave. Alternatively, West/East are left/right when facing Coreward, respectively.

The Dragon Knights of Tallarax

Sometimes called The Dragon Knights or Knight-Sages of Stargrave, the elitemost task force of the God of Secrets Tallari-Anaviri-Irallat are said to make their home base here. Indeed, only Tallari and those they mentor are alleged to know the entrance to the strange, windowless towers. As opponents of some of the multiverse's most powerful entities, it stands to reason their home would be a secure one.
