The History of Language

Vitallia is a relatively "young world," with sentient species inhabiting it for the past 2500 years. However, during this period, several languages emerged. These languages primarily stem from two main branches: the Luvar Branch and The Sentinel Branch.

The Luvar Branch

The term "Luvar" refers to deities who arrived in Vitallia from a distant plane. Vitallia's history is marked by the presence of these Luvar deities since its inception. The initial language spoken in Vitallia during the First Age was known as Panthea, which the alien deities used.

Panthea

It is believed that Panthea was taught to the first mortals by the goddess Theanivar during the First Age. Despite being created by the Great Sentinel, the sentient beings of Vitallia had forgotten their ancestral language and adopted the divine language of the gods. However, Panthea proved to be too intricate and divine for mortals to grasp, leading to the development of Metea, a simplified version of Panthea.

Metea

Metea quickly became the predominant language among humans. It was a rich and fluid language that incorporated arcane scripts used by sorcerers and employed runes for its writing system. Metea was spoken in most regions of the world during the First and Second Ages.

Margo

Margo, a dialect derived from Panthea and, by extension, Metea, emerged as a distinct variation. Given that Panthea was spoken by the deities of the Pantheon, it's likely that the dimension of Pantheon had various regional variations of the same language. Kargor the Smith was the first to speak this unique dialect of Panthea, later known as Margo. He used Margo to communicate with the Dwarves as he led them to Esgolithon after The Great War. Margo eventually became the dominant language in the northern regions.

Reyka

Reyka represented a simplified variation of Metea that was easy to learn, both in written and spoken forms. It became the dominant language among desert tribes and is believed to have been introduced to them by the Goddess Igrais during the Second Age.

Teyn

Teyn is currently the most widely spoken language in Central Vitallia. It is a simplified and evolved form of Metea and has spread across most of the kingdoms.

The Sentinel Branch

The Great Sentinel, who created the world of Vitallia and most of its inhabitants, is said to have passed on its will and language to all of its creations. However, the sentient races gradually forgot their ancestral language, and those who could speak it have either become extinct or have evolved beyond it.

Sahri

Sahri is the ancestral language of the Sentinel, and it was used for communication not only among people but also with animals and creatures of the world. The Shanah race was the only one to Master the language of Sahri, but they all perished during the First and Second Ages of the world. Elves also spoke Sahri during the First Age, but their language evolved into a distinct variation known as Sentin.

Sentin

Sentin is a fusion of the Metea and Sahri languages and was introduced to the elves by Laira, an Amar and therefore, a child of the Sentinel. Sentin is a more fluid and mellifluous language often employed for music, poetry, and magic. It is also used by the remaining Shanah creatures in the realm, particularly those residing on the isle of Miasel.
