War of Restitution

The "War of Restitution," known by Estarians as the "Blight in the Gap" is a conflict between Keth and Estaria's then-empire from 1897 to 2042 SE. It is used to encompass all of the battles involved in Keth's wayward expansion during that time, with conflict from Sadrove and T'Ched as well.

Account

Bellow is an exerpt from the book "Prelude to a Father's Tear" which describes the war of restitution.
Rancor toward Estaria had long been harbored about the tribes of Keth--a succession of land-grabs and power-plays along the borders of the territory had long seen Estarian peoples anathema to the newly centered Keth. So it was, then, that the tidings of callous war hung expectant toward the two--Estaria's king-expectant, Duke Henry of Solgrad, was to be its indemnified.   On tour toward Estaria's southernmost reaches following the abatement of a regional dry-spell, Duke Henry was arriving to greet the peoples of Drythrone (the present-day settlement of Cerdar) when the duke was publicly confronted by Logan Keth about the catwalk of Fort Cent. Record proceeds that aspersions were cast--though little was recorded of the particulars of the exchange. What accords thereafter was that the peasantry, absent the eyes of the Duke, had taken sword for the upstart lord. Blood was shed in excess--and the involved saw the day consigned to the whisperings of bedraggled beggars on moribund speeches.   Word escaped, nonetheless, and so intruded a protracted one hundred and twenty three years of combat--the inimical climes of Keth blunting Estaria's immediate retaliation and a series of tactical blunders ensuring Keth would find new, firm ground about its ancestral territories until the arrival of General Oman Lorre some hundred years later to the (now long protracted,) war, who routed a new Keth foothold and effectively returned the war firmly into the territory of the now burgeoning barony. With the land's three High Archmagi in tow, the largely uneducated and slapdash Keth forces were nearly brought to heel--and would be, were it not for the unprecipitated events thereafter which forever ingrained the upstart Keth's name in the annals of history and brought hushed whispers to the restive still of many a Shaper's night-time retreat.   A warparty of Keth partisans, headed by Logan Keth's firebrand eldest Brenneck I of Keth, marched under blanket of night, preternatural of purpose, to Fort Cent, whereupon the general and his retinue had once more managed to conquer and fortify for what was to be a decisive spearhead into Keth territory toward Coldharbor. Records are vague hereafter--a mixture of religious allegory and harrying, conflicting suppositions of devilry and trearchery alike; however, the results rang clarion enough for even the vaulted halls of Solgrad to weather: all listed to occupy the keep were consigned to damnation. Witnesses saw, feint and remiss the sun's mounting tidings, an aberration which sealed fast the fate of the war. All involved in the occupation lied as though the essence within them had been rended from their festering, decrepit forms, hanging limply from stations tawdry throughout the fort.   With the Estarian forces effectively decapitated and such a frought encounter yet undemonstrated by the wonted Witchfinders of Solgrad, treatise was signed within the week, and thus ended the War of Restitution.
