Gaermund
Gaermund is a god of the Atovist Pantheon, regarded as the god of harmony and the judge of deceit. He is particularly revered by Chimera as the patron-god of the Enclave of the Free Peoples.
He is believed to be the only god of the pantheon that is still alive.
History
Gaermund, as with all other gods of the pantheon of six, was believed to have died during the Creationist Cataclysm before the turn of the Age of Work. However, he survived total destruction and entered a dormant state at the turn of the current age instead. His dormancy was caused by injuries from battling against Lonir and Leuthnur, as well as the steep decline in the world's Essence after the fall of the other gods, which took away Gaermund's power and ability to recover. In 492 SE, Gaermund regained enough strength to reveal himself to a group of human travelers in the Cadreach Crest mountains. These humans numbered less than a hundred, and agreed to keep his existence a secret and take vows of celibacy. These humans formed a monastic order, the Hanbroch Monastery (or the Keepers of Harmony), and created the monastic city of Brode. These humans never had children of their own, and their order was continued through the creation and teaching of Chimera.Worship
As the god of harmony and judge of deceit, Gaermund is the patron god of musicians, judges, and civil servants. He is often symbolized with a harp, and courthouses in Atovist societies will almost always incorperate a harp into their decor. Estaria, Landren and some parts of Prekha celebrate a four day music festival called Gaermund's Procession, where local communities decorate the streets, play music, and build a temporary statue of Gaermund out of cloth and wood, which is burned at sunset of the final day. In large settlements and cities, it's not uncommon for music to play for every hour of the day. Its common for non-atovist citizens to join in this as well, as the festival is highly secularized. However, Penant Atovists do not partake, and the practice is banned in Narr.
