The Canyonstone District

The Canyonstone District is built on the ruins of Kermazdun and it has largely been seen as one of the slums of Arrapha, made up of former slaves and criminals. It is one of the southernmost districts of the city, following the Tanin Nahr as it weaves its way away from the mountains and prosperous neighborhoods of Arrapha. Buried beneath the shops and apartments that make up the current Canyonstone District lies a hoard of lost heritage and wealth that belongs to all the dwarves who have been enslaved and beaten by Nahyz.
The district has grown more prosperous as more slaves find a way to sharpen their skills and build their expertise. Formerly, a slave that showed enough talent to draw interest would be recruited to serve as an artisan for one of the dynasties. There, they would have guaranteed business, protection, and comfort. With the rise of the Kermazdun Reclaimation Faction, those craftsmen instead choose to stay in the Canyonstone District now, and it has benefited from such loyalty.

Demographics

Most of the Canyonstone District is made up of dwarves; they proudly live and work in this portion of the city, eeking out a living beyond what they would be given by the draconic clans that rule Arrapha and the rest of Nahyz. The others who live in the district are similarly lost or forgotten. Undoubtedly the district is full of survivors who won't let themselves be trampled on by the great families.

Geography

The district runs along the Tanin Nahr and is mostly made up of the gorges that have been formed by the river. Steep cliffs at least fifty feet in height are the markings of this district.
Faint earthquakes are known to occur in this part of the city though the rest is not affected. It's the remnants of the strong magic that originally brought down Kermazdun, and usually after an earthquake, rumbling and crashing can be heard echoing from the ruined dwarven kingdom that hides below the surface of the district. Additionally, as the ruins of Kermazdun continue to crumble, cave ins and chasms have been known to spring up and take many lives with them.
