The Rocky Nook

Architecture

This building is carved into one of the tall cliffs that make up the Canyonrock District. There are two visible stories from the outside, two square windows, about 4 feet off the ground emit warm lights, laughter, and the smell of booze. Above them is a squat inset balcony with carved pillars and two tables.   Going through the short door, you see a long bar, again, around 4 feet tall, running the length of the back wall. Tall kegs, ten feet in height, are in recessed walls behind the bar. A small set of stairs, going both up and down are in a corner next to the bar. Low tables seating anywhere from two to twelve people are placed haphazardly around the room, but there's a fifteen foot square cleared in the center. A DC 15 Perception check will show dried blood on the floor in the cleared square. (It's where the fights happen). The same stone as what makes up the cliffs in this section of the city also make up everything in The Rocky Nook, the bars, the tables, the chairs; it's all been carved from the rocks.   Going up the stairs will lead you to the upper floor which holds a few rooms that can be rented out and a balcony that is rarely used.   Going down the stairs will take you to a long hallway. The closest room is Roari's bedroom and across from it is his office. There is also a small kitchen and three storage rooms.

Defenses

There's an alarm spell surrounding the perimeter that is activated by a small button behind the bar. Other than that, it seems the muscled owner and the large hammer that hangs proudly behind the bar are all the deterrence required for the tavern.

History

Roari Deepbrew grew in a mining town as a slave to the Albioris dynasty. He managed to escape and snuck into Arrapha where he disappeared in the community of free dwarves in the city. He used his mining skill to create a bar meant for dwarves, one place in the empire that has stomped on everything they once held pride in, that was somewhere for dwarves to stand tall and proud. In the back rooms, Roari hosts Kermazdun Reclaimation Faction meetings.
