Categorisation of Peacekeeper Planet Types
Purpose
As the Peacekeeper Territories extend, the need for an efficiant categorisation system became apparent. The aim of the categorisation is to effectively communicate the level and benefits of a planet without going into vast amounts of detail. These categorisations are used primarily for communications about new potential planets and non-habitable planets, but they are also used for existing planets as part of the internal Alliance communications, known as PA Standard Commands. Categorisations of planets are revisited every five years to ensure that these reference numbers are up to date with the current purposes and state of the planet.Categories
A planet's categorisation depends upon multiple factors, but is always has the same layout.Populated Planets | Initial | Technological Level | Purpose | - | Societal Advancements | Intelligence |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Unpopulated Planets | Initial | Technological Level | Purpose | - | Resource Level | Value |
Initials
The first part of the planets categorisation is the first letter of its name. If the name is more than one word, then the first letter of each word is included. If a planet is unnamed because it has just been discovered, it may take the first letter of the solar system in which the planet is based - the name of which will be set by The Alliance prior to investigation.PP

Purpose
The purpose of the planet is identified as the next two to three digits in the categorisation. These are separated from the technological level with a full stop (.) to make it clear how many purposes are associated with the planet. If a planet serves multiple purposes, then the first number is the primary purpose of the planet, and the second is secondary and so on. There are never more than 3 numbers in this section.Type | Number | Meaning |
---|---|---|
Residential | 1 | The primary purpose is to act as a residence and base for people. |
Recreational | 2 | It may have some residential, but the primary purpose is to act as a destination for vacations and tourists. |
Resource | 3 | This planet has a substantial valuable resource which is used by The Alliance |
Factory | 4 | This planet's primary purpose is the construction of goods and/or services for The Alliance. |
Other | 5 | This is for a planet who's purpose has not yet been clearly classified. |

Residential & Recreational Planets
Planets which have any residential or recreational purposes listed in their classifications have two further indicators, which are broken down into societal advancements and the standard intelligence. These are broken up from the previous numbers with a hyphen (-).Societal Advancement
The first number is always related to the societal advancement. As with the other sections, the lower the number the more preferable in the eyes of The Alliance.Type | Number | Meaning |
---|---|---|
Unified | 1 | The people of this planet are unified under a single ruler or group of rulers, or are happy to be represented by a single person or persons, with no recent history of intraplanetary violence (in the last 200 years). |
Individualism | 2 | The people of this planet believe in individualism, and there are therefore not multiple rulers or groups of rulers to deal with. However, they are not considered unified. |
Continents | 3 | There are as many or fewer rulers or groups of rulers as their are continents on the planet. |
Countries | 4 | This planet's is broken down into countries and kingdoms with different cultures, ideas and governing systems. |
Tribal | 5 | The people of this planet live in tribes, which is different from Countries because they have no clear diplomacy between groups or it may mean that no serious thought has gone into the best way of governing. |
No Hierarchy | 6 | This is an everyone for themselves situtation. This is different from Individualism usually because of the level of technology of the group. It is usally people fighting for power and control over small amounts of land, property or resource. |

Factory & Resource Planets
Planets which have any factory or resource purposes listed in their classifications have two further indicators, which are broken down into resource level and relative value. These are broken up from the previous numbers with a hyphen (-). For planets which have both a residential or recreational purpose and a factory or resource purpose have a full stop (.) between the first two numbers and the second two numbers. Residential or recreational purposes are always listed first, if applicable.Resource Levels
The first of these pair of numbers relates to the relative level of resource available on the planet.Type | Number | Meaning |
---|---|---|
High | 1 | This planet has more than ample useful resource or resources to last the next millenia. It is highly likely that the resource or resources in question are renewable in some way. |
Medium | 2 | This planet has a solid resource or resources which will likely last between 500 and 1,000 years. |
Low | 3 | This planet doesn't have a high level of resource and it is likely to run out within 500 years. |
None | 4 | There are no resources on this planet, making it a factory planet. |

Value
The final number on the categorisation is to do with the value of the planet. This is chosen in relation to other planets within The Alliance. Value is judged based on the cost to The Alliance of the resources and infrastructure on the planet were lost.Type | Number | Meaning |
---|---|---|
High | 1 | In the top 20% of most valuable planets to The Alliance, or in line with planets which are in the top 20%. |
Medium | 2 | In the top 20% - 50% of the most valuable planets to The Alliance, or in line with planets within that bracket. |
Low | 3 | In the bottom 50% of the planets within The Alliance sorted by value, or in line with planets within that bracket. |
None | 4 | The loss of this planet would be of no consequence to The Alliance. |
