First pendant:
A vampire get his or her pendant after they're born. It has the symbol of their family engraved on it. The pendant is given by the head of the family, unless the mother of the newborn is the head. Then the father of the newborn gets this job. Only the first pendant is not from pure gold but from wood. The pure gold pendant is given to them on their fourth birthday.
Wooden pendant:
This is made from red wood. It has the same futures of a gold pendant, only made out of red wood.

Sometimes the parents and the head of the family decides to keep the gold pendant away from the child until they think it is time to give it. Then the child will keep on wearing the wooden pendant until that day.

When the pendant gets lost:
When you give a child something valuable it is sometimes bound to get lost. This can be during playing or they can give it away, without knowing what it means. In chases that happens there is always a spare. If there is no spare at hand. The family makes a new one, the child is wears then a wooden pendant until the gold on is done.
After a vampire's death:
After a vampire dies the pedant is replaced again with a wooden one. The one of pure gold is kept save until the next child of the family becomes four. If the vampire changed his or her last name and took on a new symbol. The symbol of the family they were born is also added to the chain, before they burn on the funeral pyre.
