Elderkin

Appearance

No remains of the Elderkin have ever been found, any knowledge of their races appearance is only known through rudimentary engravings upon stone. It is believed that the Elderkin were far larger in size than the humanoid races of this world, matching the size of the largest Dragons. If the engravings found upon ruins and stone tablets are to be believed, as well as the sheer size of their ruins, Elderkin are estimated to have been 25-30 ft. tall. Their representations upon these engravings are rudimentary, the detail withered away through time. It appears they dressed simply in loose robes, trousers, even mere loincloths. They are depicted with many varieties of hair, males having often lengthy facial hair. The engravings had no coloring, and as such their complexion and natural colors are unknown. In their engraved depictions, there are often elemental adornments surrounding them such as bolts of lightning, howling winds, a volcano erupting, and so forth. It is unknown how these elemental depictions relate to the Elderkin, their appearance, or their capabilities.

Biology

The genetics and biology of Elderkin are entirely unknown, left only to speculation and legend.

History

The Elderkin, colloquially called Giants, are ancient. The wear upon their ruins (those few that have been found) lead experts to believe they had existed possibly millenia before the 1st Epoch. Their existence is more than mere myth, with Anthropologists worldwide having found evidence in ancient ruins, the foundations and furnishings of which are many times too large for any living race. Stone tablets containing rudimentary engravings of their likeness have been found worldwide, giving further proof. There is some belief that a war once happened between Dragon and Elderkin, though the only basis for this thought is one half broken stone tablet depicting an Elderkin fighting a Dragon (and the fact that Dragons survived extinction longer than the Elderkin).

The frequent use of the 4 Elements in Elderkin engravings has lead some to speculate that they may have been the first practitioners of Masoritanism, or that perhaps Masoritanism had been created to worship the Elderkin originally. There are some followers of Dichotism who embrace the idea that the Elderkin are the first race of mortals, created by the gods, and may have been the creators of the Mortal Bulwark. Those who believe this revere the Eldritch language, citing its utilization of pentagonal runes as proof of its ties to divinity, citing their pentagonal shape as a holy fifth.

Perhaps the greatest impact of the Elderkin on modern society is their language, Eldritch. Eldritch is the language of power, of Logic, used by the Logicmasters to create their spells. Beyond just the Logicmasters, Eldritch is used by artificers, tinkerers, and magewrights worldwide in their sygaldry and enchantments. It is central to all modern technology.
