Eldritch

Eldritch is the language of the Elderkin, an ancient and extinct race whose very existence is still debated. The language is a runic one. Each rune is enclosed within a pentagon, with lines connecting to the edges of the pentagon in a myriad of patterns, both straight and curved, sometimes forming shapes that resemble real objects. To create a phrase, or sentence in the language, you connect the surfaces of the runes pentagonal borders. The manner in which the runes connect to each other dictates the flow, nuance, and overall meaning of the phrase. Each phrase is built upon a central rune, and a completed phrase is encased within a larger pentagon. These larger phrases then connect to other phrases, creating a larger passage. Most languages are read from left to right, right to left, or top to bottom, Eldritch is the only language that is read from the center outwards.   Eldritch is a volatile language, its words have a connection to the very fabric of the world. It is difficult to pronounce, feeling unnatural upon the tongue. Improper diction could have disastrous consequences to the speaker. This is the language used by Logicmasters to wield the Logic and cast their spells. It is also the language used by artificers, magewrights, and tinkerers worldwide within their sygaldry. It is fundamental to the technological renaissance of the modern epoch. The language is incredibly complex, and incomplete. Ancient stone slabs containing Eldritch runes are every treasure hunters dream, for if the slab contains any undiscovered runes, the Logicmasters have paid upwards of 50,000 gold per new rune. Many treasure hunters seek to find Elderkin ruins, for that is the most likely place where a new Eldritch rune may be found.
