4th Epoch: Fall of Nations

Epoch Length: 490 years.   In the power vacuum the Logicmasters left in the wake of their Great Purge, countless upstart and would-be rulers tried to seize power, hoping to become the legend of a nation. The first centuries of this epoch are drenched in blood as the whole world is consumed in violence and war unlike ever before. Even the wars fought between the Sorcerers of the 2nd Epoch could not compare to this carnage. In the chaos and turmoil, many histories, cultures, philosophies, and religions were lost. Crushed to dust and blown away between the hammers of nations. Once these wars settled, it took several centuries to recover the farmland and infrastructure that had been destroyed. Many nations suffered food shortages, and disease was rampant.   Although much of the past had been lost to the wars of this time, it was within these years that modern history was set in motion. This epoch spawned a religious revolution with the revelations of Dichotism, and soon after, its heresy of Singulism. The older religions and cultures that managed to survive this turmoil were forever changed by it. Modern culture, philosophy, and art were spawned. All manner of political systems were tried, failed, and refined, birthing true and stable civilization.   Near the end of this era, the fighting had started to wane, and the lasting nations of the world had begun to find their footing. A steady rise of globalization had begun: international trade, international guilds, and large leaps in transportation technology. Inventions such as the Lightning Rail and Airfloat revolutionized travel. Nations that had once been defined by a predominant race had begun to mix races and cultures. It became more common for a common culture to define a nation, rather than a common race.   This epoch's end is marked by the dissolving of the Vesinian Empire into the Tensun Trading Company. The Logicmasters chose this point as it marked a transitional period from a time of turmoil to a time of relative peace, infrastructure, and global politics.
