Airfloat

An Airfloat is a slow moving air vehicle. Its hull is similarly structured to a ship, usually made of lightweight wood with lightweight metal alloy reinforcement. Mast aboard the ship are adorned with balloon sails, whose angle can be adjusted towards vertical or horizontal positions, facilitating movement of the ship. The ship functions utilizing an Aetherdynamo optimized for Sustain Power, which utilizes an entrapped Air Elemental to generate powerful winds into the balloon sails. Most Airfloats move at the same speed as a sea ship, their speed heavily dependent on weather, and the presence of a head or tail wind. Despite their slow speed, Airfloats have a variety advantages over other transportation methods. Airfloats are able to land on any leveled surface that is large enough, requiring no infrastructure (such as a waterstrip for Skylances or magnodes for the Lightning Rail), allowing transportation of passengers and goods to rural, hard to reach locations such as mountains. Airfloats are cheaper to make than Skylances, and require far less training to pilot. The fact that Aetherdynamo functions nearly exclusively at Sustain Power means the vehicle is less likely to draw the attention of other Elementals.
