Marie Fukuo, A Human Wizard

Arcane Instructor (Disgraced) Marie Fukuo

Originally from a small village in The Kingdom of Ashalla, known as Bourdon; notable for being home to a higher-than-average number of families with magical lineages; Marie Fukuo found that magic came to her easily. Learning fundamental magical concepts from a young age, she displayed enough talent to earn a scholarship to study at The Grand Arcaneum of Vallanna, in Valliné.
After completing her course of study and apprenticeship at the Arcaneum, Marie was offered a junior teaching position, which she accepted. Charged with teaching the youngest of the new Arcaneum students the basics rudiments of arcane skills, Marie was happy at her job, but did not find the syllabus particularly stimulating, having learned what she was teaching at a much younger age than those she now found passing along her knowledge to.
One day, while perusing through the Arcaneum's expansive library, she came across a battered text on ancient ritual magic, tucked away in a rarely-frequented area of the library stacks. Impatient to investigate these rituals which she had never seen before, and looking to liven up her next class, Marie failed to make the proper preparations and safety precautions (all of which were outlined in the book itself, yet ignored in her haste) for an energy-transfer ritual, and seven of her students were killed; their life energies siphoned from them due to Marie's carelessness.
Horrified at what she had done, Marie didn't protest when the she was stripped of her position by the Arcaneum's High Circle, and turned over to the justice system for further punishment, with a recommendation that she be incarcerated for no less than ten years in the Arcane wing of The Crag. This recommendation was taken on board, and Marie soon found herself aboard a prison transport bound for The Crag, chained alongside Obadiah, An Elderly Dragonborn, Roxy Phendre, a Tiefling and Pettigrew "Pete" Smiles, Legendary Pirate.
This incarceration did not last long, however, as shortly after their arrival at The Crag, the crew of The Grinning Skull, Captain Smiles' ship effected a thrilling rescue of their captain, along with those chained to him.

Shortly after assuming her teaching position at The Grand Arcaneum of Vallanna, Marie was experimenting with a book of ancient ritual magics, which she had found tucked away on a dusty shelf in the Arcaneum library. A little impatient, she had skim read some of the potential side-effects of the ritual which she was attempting. As a result of her relative inexperience with such magic, the ensuing arcane discharge took the lives of seven young students in her care.
As punishment for this horrific occurance, Marie was stripped of her position at the Arcaneum and turned over to the justice system for further punishment, with a recommendation that she be incarcerated for no less than ten years in the Arcane wing of The Crag.
