The Issar Mountains

The Issar mountain range spans almost the entire eastern length of the Nerevarn Peninsula, in some places reaching right down to the coast, and ending only at the very south of the peninsula, just before the capital city of Illyria.  The foothills of the western side of the range are within The Great Forest and known to be the favoured lair of many dragons, which are best avoided as though not all are necessarily dangerous, many are.  The city of Verdorn sits in a flat depression at extreme elevation, surrounded by some of the range's highest peaks, and is accessible from sea level only by two tunnels which make their way through the mountains and into the city.  Except for the city, the main inhabitants of the area are the mountain dwarf clans, who live in homes carved into the rock of a peak which they call 'Tasev'; the gnomish and dwarvern mining settlements which work the gold seams throughout the range; and the goliaths who live mostly in seclusion high up in the tallest peaks where many other races would struggle to breathe.
