Tempestus

"Before the world became One, practitioners of Symbiotic magicks were scattered, clinging onto their Circles with their tenacity alone. Now, no Druid must go into this world without support - for Tempestus is here to exalt the ground we walk upon and the people within the beautiful lands of Uthilith."   -Squall Uhrheart, founder of Tempestus
As of CY 1699, Tempestus has locations in many places across the world of Uthilith - each headed by a different Druidic Circle. However, the central location in Argoskardis is where the majority of administrative and bureaucratic work is done, as the Flodfald Family doesn't want to anger the druids of Uthilith.   The central location in Argoskardis is headed by Squall Uhrheart, the sole living Uthilithian Archdruid and the most prominent member of the Circle of Spores. He oversees the care of the Oak of Skardia - a large ancient oak tree that was planted in Uthilith's earliest days by Briris, goddess of divination. Only Circle leaders - and to an extent, other druids in times of strife - are permitted to travel through the Oak through the remainder of the world. The Argoskardis location welcomes druids of any persuasion to help them develop their fledgling talents.   Thomas Pennington and his late husband Paavu Murkstone began a branch in the Hebra Mountains in the decade following the defeat of The Erlkönig, as a way to reconnect Hebrans with the land. Although Thomas is the most prominent member of the Circle of Dreams, the branch is open to any who wish to find this connection - Mountain, Dreams, Shepherd, and Stars.   Squall's pupil Josquin des Morria runs a branch in Morelle, as a prominent member of the Circle of Spores. He's also the Lord Mayor of the settlement, and oversees the vast majority of community activity.   The Circle of the Desert is headed by Atesk Chrestwyth - a Barbarian who became a druid in order to save his party - and the branch is run in the Ikanian city of Irieham.   Schönberg holds the Circle of the Arctic, due to its location within the Schneespitze Tundra. It's headed by a Half-elf woman named Cednoa Luran.   The Fey city of Twinvale has adopted the location catering both to the Circle of the Moon and the Circle of the Forest. It currently possesses no leader, but rather maintains a state of egalitarian unity.   The farming town of Traversedorf carries the stronghold of the Circle of the Shepherd, as the culture of the town emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between animals, mortals, and the arable land itself. It is currently led by Dumaeda of Kin Mossdeep, a woman who sought a simpler life than the royal one laid out before her.   Charion has a small office within the Temple of Stars and Sea dedicated to a connection with the druid's guild. It is currently maintained by Chiron ó Ceallaigh, a Monk with great reverence for the Circle of Stars and the Circle of the Coast.   The Circle of the Grassland comes from no settlement, but rather has a stronghold in the open plain between Sakha and the Avena Monastery. It is led by a Stout Halfling man named Boodles Truncoot, one of the most powerful living druids in Uthilith.   Athewell's close proximity to the Dreadnaught Swamp swayed Squall's decision to begin a branch of the Circle of the Swamp there. Although he's most closely affiliated with the culture and technique of Spores, the Swamp was what raised him - and he would do anything to protect his home. Lilia Uhrheart - a Wood Elf woman that Squall considers a sister - runs the locale.   The only Circles without identifiable strongholds are that of Wildfire and the Underdark, as neither of them have developed a large enough congregation of druids respecting the magic of these elements quite yet.

History

The Druid's Guild Tempestus was founded in 1625 as an effort to reclaim all that was destroyed in the wake of The Erlkönig. Many idyllic locations were razed amidst his Ascension, and Squall Uhrheart - the sole living Uthilithian Archdruid - sought to bring the natural world back to its formal glory.   The southern part of the Occidental Kingdom of Chaelwyth was one of many locations to be severely impacted by a cult dedicated to The Erlkönig, and Squall (who was in Argoskardis) rallied together a band of local druids to obliterate whatever cultists were left in wake after his defeat by The Stonebounders.   Some government individuals and associations - such as the Occidental Truthbearer and the now-deceased foreman of House Althis - have decried Tempestus as a band of 'eco-terrorists', but most folks don't really take them seriously.
