Session 33: Finding the Doctor Part One

Downtime

Avitus continued to work on learning Grung from Yorb, leaving him 2 weeks left until he masters the new language. Avitus trained Therry Goodsong in computer use leaving only 1 week of training until he masters the skill. Diana provided medical training to Tritra Goldkind leaving only 1 week of training until she masters the skill. Diana started learning Draconic from various Kobolds in Onureth Taoul leaving her 5 weeks until she has mastered the language. Seardon has continued to work on learning common from Greevil and he will need 6 more weeks to master the language. Ricky worked as a wrestling performer and earned $200. The party went through their bag of holding and divided up the items they have been collecting. Bun Bun is happy to have more space in his living room. Bun Bun went shopping on Build-a-Bear. After all, he can't be the only one that isn't getting new gear and wearing clothing! He even gave a little fashion show.

Team 8 made a visit to Qhall. Avitus delivered the head of Maut'on and used that to have Deld's debt transferred to Avitus. Qhall gave Diana a book about Illithads. Seardon had Qhall line him up with a doctor to get cybernetic implants.

The Job

Deld calls Diana and explains to her that he has work for Team 8. He tells her: "Hey, sounds like I might have some work for you. There is a Mundane that believes that her friend is a Shadow Kind and he is missing. She is looking for someone to help her find him. I've made arrangements for you to meet with her tonight at the Seattle Public Library, the Central branch at 7pm." Diana accepts the job. Team 8 planned on using the two Circlet of Human Perfection that they have to help them blend in and stay hidden while they are doing this job. Avitus attunes to one of them and Ricky attunes to the other. Seardon plans on using his abilities to blend in with the crowd. Diana goes for a bulky sweater to hide her extra arms. Meeting Team 8 went to the library and met with Margaret Dabney. She explained to them that she witnessed Dr. Donald Fulton Dean with an altered appearance. She took a photo that she shared on facebook Tuesday evening and now the doctor is missing. He was last seen on Wednesday for his day shift at the hospital. She is asking that Team 8 find the doctor and make sure that he is safe. Team 8 goes to the doctor's apartment with Margaret. He lives at The Seventh and James Apartments. They find that it is oddly lacking in personal effects. There are no clues there as to where the doctor might have gone. Seardon tracks the doctor's scent and finds that he has several places that he frequently travelled to. There are several places that he likes going to eat: Locust Cider First Hill, Coffee Tree Poke and Tougo Coffee. There was a path to the library and one to the hospital. Seardon goes to Harborview Medical Center and speaks with the ED Unit Manager there. He learns that the doctor was last seen there on Wednesday when he worked his day shift in the ED. He then missed his scheduled day shifts in the ED on both Thursday and Friday. The manager felt this was out of character. He described the doctor as being odd, forgetful and flighty. But he also felt that the doctor was dependable and an excellent doctor. Diana, Avitus and Ricky went to speak with Phesea at the Tractor Tavern. She told them that she believed that the doctor was a Fey. She told them about the Fey Palace as a place that Fey Shadow Kind can go if they want to be protected. However, once someone goes into the Fey Palace, they don't often come out again. She told them that the Fey Palace was in the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park and that they would need to look for a small building that marks where the old missile base once was. They would need to find a mushroom ring near there and then make offerings in order to get into the Fey Palace. Diana called Kimberly and requested that she do some research for her. Kimberly confirmed that the doctor was using a false identity and that it was Qhall who helped him build that identity. They went to Qhall to see what he knew. Qhall explained that the doctor's real name is Mitah Bettercliff and that he came through a Shadow Rift 5 years ago. Qhall said that Mitah wanted to integrate into the Mundane world so that he could help other people with his healing. Mitah felt that his only other option was to live in the Fey Palace, but he didn't seem to desire to do this. Qhall points out that the Fey Palace might still be where the doctor has gone if he felt that his life was being threatened. Diana, Avitus and Ricky go to Central Park Apartments where they meet with Mouse and Moxie. They ask Seardon to get something to use for scrying from the doctor's apartment. Seardon goes back to the doctor's apartment. He takes a hairbrush and toothbrush. After Moxie gives Team 8 snacks and tea, Mouse casts the scry spell. They can see the doctor in the crystal ball. He is in a round room with strange , dimly glowing green stone walls. He is muttering to himself that coming here was a bad idea. Avitus calls Ebony. She agrees to look in the Archives for them, but makes it clear that this cancels the debt that she owes them. She tells them that Team 2 has been assigned to hunt down the doctor and that they have the green light to kill him.
