Session 32: BUN BUN 5: 748 FROM WESTLAKE
General Summary
Team 8 is enjoying breakfast in the Goblin Nook when they hear news regarding a train having derailed at the Westlake Platform. Shortly after that, Bun Bun transmits a message that they need to go to the Westlake Platform and rescue a boy named Jacob.
They go to Westlake Platform where they find that the subway platform has been shut down. Shortly after their arrival, they are approached by two workers that strike them as being odd. They are ordered to leave. When they do not comply, Diana's warning weapon alerts them to danger. Team 8 attacks the workers who succumb quickly. Upon their deaths, they revert to looking like orcs. The party is attacked by an Ogre Mage, Fek-Jiim. However, they quickly defeat him.
Team 2 arrives at Westlake Platform and finds Team 8 after just having completed their conflict with the ogre and orcs. They make a deal with Team 8 to not engage with each other. Instead, they agree to work towards the shared goal with the understanding that Team 2 can take full credit for completion of the mission.
Diana investigates the train. She finds that the damage to the train is what would be expected as they are designed to crumple on impact. The brakes do appear to have engaged while there still was power to the drive wheels. There was no obvious cause for this.
While Diana is investigating the train, she discovers a large hole in the ground between the tracks. People call up to her, requesting help. Team 8 investigates the hole and finds that it leads into a water tank for the under ground water way. There are six people trapped in here. They report that they were attacked and thrown into the hole. One of the people is catatonic. Team 8 rescues the people from the hole and delivers them to team 2 to be taken to the hospital.
They continue to investigate the area and Diana finds that there is a hole in the subway tunnel wall. Team 8 approaches the hole and is attached by an Umber Hulk. Avitus is effected by it's gaze attack. Seardon is able to connect Avitus's unusual confusion with having looked at the creature. They are able to subdue the creature. They contact Deld and make a deal to sell the Umber Hulk to the Fitness Lab for their fighting pit.
There are piles of rocks behind the umber hulk. After breaking through one of these piles, Avitus finds another group of people. These are shackled to the floor. Team 8 manages to break the lock on one of the captives (the orc Mal'Tok) lock before the mind flayer, Maut'on begins to throw Intellect Devourers into the room with them. Avitus goes up the ladder after the mind flayer while the other party members fight with the intellect devourers to protect the captives who the intellect devourers are targeting.
They kill all of the intellect devourers and Diana patches up the captives wounds. However, she is unable to help the two that are left catatonic. Mal'Tok attempted to help her with the others, but discovered that he doesn't have a knack for the healing arts and is rather squeamish about blood. He probably has some trauma from trying to hold that woman's wound closed.
Seardon and Ricky join Avitus in the battle against the mind flayer. Team 8 is able to defeat the mind flayer. They find Jacob and Jamie in the mind flayer's living area. They are pretty much unharmed.
Team 8 gets the captives to Team 2 for extraction. Jamie and Jacob are escorted through the underground by a kobold to the surface to prevent them from falling into Draco hands.

From the Umber Hulk
The party looted the Umber Hulk corpse which they sold to the Fitness Lab. They had Deld broker the deal for them giving him 15% for his services. Deld paid Avitus $34,000 for the Umber Hulk after he took his cut.From the Mind Flayer
Avitus cut off the Mind Flayer's head and currently has that in a bag which Qhall has requested be delivered to him. He has offered to pay Avitus for the head. Diana collected all of the research items from Maut'on office.Missions/Quests Completed
The party successfully rescued Jacob Brezezinki. They discover that he has unusual magical powers that he is completely unaware of.
