Treaty of Lacertillia
After the battle of Lacertillia, or the first Night of the Burning sea as it became known, the empire of Akoom sued for peace. Though neither side was in much of a position to demand anything, other islands were quickly showing support for a 'Gem sea league', A position the empire was heavily opposed to. This sped up the process and, according to rumors, Lacertillia had no interest in such a league, the other islands' support was used to full effect. Though the treaty was technically just between the two, several other parties had delegations present.
Dignatury goals
Fylkir Nulgha
Fylkir Nulgha's had two goals, the first was to stop the forming of any type of gem sea alliance, while the second was to try to regain some influence in the area.Trafor Waterbane
Trefor's job was to make sure Lacertillia's independence was secure, he also had a personal goal, secretly wanting to curtail the trade power of the south, bringing it north.Princess Lazuria
While officially only a witness Lazuria had several secret objectives. The first two from her father were to break up the trade block forming, as it was hurting Rivell trade, and weaken the empire in any way. Her own personal goal was to gather support for her succeeding her father instead of her brother.Miodulth
While officially, he had no part in the actual discussion, he was there on behalf of Zumontiarth with the goal of making sure people knew the dragons were watching. He may have also hinted to the merchant guild that Zumontiarth saw Lacertillia as his territory.Sea Lord Jalvir
One of the biggest driving forces behind the gem sea alliance, Jalvir's not so secret goal was to get Lacertillia on side. The treaty
While the exact wording is long worded and complex, Trafor's way of making it ironclad, the contents can be summed up in three categories.1)Reperations by the empire
This section first forces the empire to pay reparations to those who lost ships in the battle, even keeping the promises made by Trafor to merchants for the commandeering of ships. Secondly, it made the empire, all successor states, and paladins of Akoom ensure the independence of Lacerillia. though successor states are vague it's specifically defined in the treaty as any political entity that either owes its existence to the empire or follows the practice of having the prophet or the replacement position as their spiritual leader.2)Trade regualtions
This section is full of various litigation, trade deals, and shipping territory. To a lay person, it is ni impossible to understand, it formed the basis of all gem sea trade and resource territories for the next few ages, including the fact all trade ships between Rivell and the empire must pass through Lacertillia. This also gave sovereignty to individual islands when it came to sea territory.3)Rivell alliance
The shortest section of the treaty is a promise of aid to each other. This was secured by a marriage between Trafor and Lazuria.legacy
The immediate aftermath was a near economic collapse of the Empire of Akoom, saved by The White City in exchange for independence. It is also suspected, though not the reason stated, for Fylkir Nulgha's failed election to become the prophet. The treaty has also been put as a contributing factor to the collapse of the Gem sea merchants guild and dreams of a gem sea federation. It also cited as the primary reason for the delayed crusade against Rivell, as well Lacertillian dominance in the reagion going forward.Confidence can win a battle, but overconfidence can lose a war.Trafor Waterbane to the Akoom dignitaries at signing of the treaty of Lacertillia
