Nulgha

Fylkir

Once heralded as the hero of the desert crusade, Nulgha was said to be a gifted diplomat. All her achievements were overshadowed and tainted by her failure at Lacertillia.

Apperance

On the shorter side for an Orc, Nulgha took great pride in her appearance. Considered beautiful by others, or at least for an Orc by some, Nulgha had more delicate features. This combined with her blue skin hinted at their Tiefling heritage. Usually seen in her red-tinted, gold-trimmed chain mail with elaborate clothing over the top. Two scimitars hang at her sides.

Abilities

A skilled diplomat and warrior, Nalgha was a good all rounded paladin, mostly. Known in life to have a silver tongue, having the ability to make deals with just about anyone, including fire conflux nobles, figuring out what someone wanted and using it to her advantage, this meant few orators were better.   As a warrior, she departed from normal paladin teachings, focusing more on duel-wielding two blades. While skilled she was often considered the worst fighter amongst the Fylkir. Still able to hold her own however meant she often traveled to diplomatic meetings with minimal to no guards.   What was probably most curious about Nulgha was her proficiency in magic. On top of the normal divine magic, she was also skilled in fire magic, though no one knows where this came from, many suspected some sort of deal was involved.

History

Early life

Born to nobility in Akoomtet, Nulgha was taught about Orcish excellence and nobility from birth. Her sharp wit and tongue developed early giving her an advantage when she was enrolled in the Paladin of Akoom school. It was during these early years she persuaded a group of children from the poorer part of the city to perform a ritual she had found. This led to their deaths and Nulga meeting and making a deal with Zumil.   During her school years, Nulgha focused on her oratory skills more than everything else, though she became skilled at fighting and her magic seemed to develop naturally. She became very popular during this time, often surrounded by others who seek favor or just to be with the 'in' crowd. At her graduation, a strange thing happened and instead of the silver chain, hers seemed to be replaced with a red-tinted one with a note saying remember the deal.

Becoming the Hero of the desert

Sent to the silent lake Nulgha spent time, fighting the various city-states and securing shipping lanes. After several battles on the edge of the Zezhuanth desert, she was knighted and so took part in the disastrous siege of Drake Vil. The siege was costly for both sides allowing Nulgha to approach Niomranioss under a banner of truce. The negotiation led to the library once again keeping its autonomy to study, teach and record with impunity while the city itself would be ceded to the Empire. The peace was signed before the regions new Fylkir arrived. Though many of his Justiciar were horrified concessions were made, the Fylkir understood it meant they took the majority of the city without any more loss of men and the great dragon wouldn't get involved in the wars anymore. While this earnt Nulgha the rank of Justiciar, it didn't grant her the hero title.   This came months later when a plague ripped through the region. On rumors and legends, Nulgha's expedition found its way to Death Valley. Though the expedition was killed by the heat of the day, Nulgha survived and was able to bring back medicine to cure those afflicted. Writing about what she found and the initiation of trade with the dryads there earned her the title Hero of the Desert.

The Gem sea and Lacertillia

Nulgha was the most vocal in opposition to a navel campaign against Rivell without first conquering the Gem sea. The small islands however were seen as insignificant and the larger ones were seen as easier to springboard to from the eastern kingdom. When the crusade was stopped at the shore, Nulgha quickly moved with a cease-fire treaty that took advantage of the fact the empire technically won. This, combined with several other treaties and promises from other areas of the Gem sea, led to her being given the rank of Fylkir as an advisor to the prophet in 124 Devine.   Continuing her work in the Gem sea Nulgha realized the biggest rival was Lacertillia, the trade block couldn't form without it and it had damaged several expeditions. In early 130 Devine Nulgha showed up on the shores with a small envoy. Demanding surrender and fealty, she initiated a debate among its people on whether they should sacrifice their freedom or not, making the Orcs scoff. On the day the vote was to take place High priest Nolan gave a speech directly to Nulgha about freedom and cultural suffering. The vote was a landslide rejection, promising destruction the envoys left, only to be told by a Dwarf, that if they tried, they would burn.   On 40 Rapha Nulgha once again stepped onto Lacertillia to give them one last chance to surrender. Being met by Trafor Waterbane who informed her to save her breath and if she wanted to watch the battle about to unfold there was a nice spot up a hill. Witnessing the Night of the Burning sea firsthand filled Nulgha with despair, she had misjudged this trade city and looked in horror as a smiling Trafor walked away stating to find him when she was ready to talk about terms of defeat. Just over a month later Nulgha signed the disastrous terms of the treaty.

Final months

The Prophet vote took place at the end of 130 Devine, a vote at the start of the year that looked like a certainty for Nulgha, saw her not even present, having been sent to discussions of white city independence. Though the deal was beyond anything the empire could've hoped for, Nulgha was blamed for the loss of the city, she left public life at the start of 131 Devine. In the final month, servants reported disturbed sleep, nightmares, sudden emotional changes, and an increase in drinking. Nulgha disappeared on the 15th Sieliah, Her body was found by fishermen on the 17th, drowned presumably taking her own life.
