Jalvir Fabio Gill (Ha-bee-ay)

Sea Lord Jalvir Fabio Gill

The main driving force behind the Gem sea trade block, Jalvir was the most powerful merchant in the early Devine age, establishing a trade empire that lasted over an age.

Apperance

Tall for a Tiefling, Jalvir's golden olive skin and eyes set him apart from most others of his kind, though not as much as the two large dragon horns on his head. Always dressed in fine silks and rare cotton, he favors white, gold, and purple clothes with gold and topaz jewelry. Said to be descended from the Waterbanes, Jalvir is often seen with an ivory cane topped with a topaz dragon head.

Personality

A shrewd businessman first and foremost, Jalvir is well-spoken and polite to everyone, as long as they show him the proper respect. A man of his word, if you can ever get him to give it, he abides by every contract he signs (though most have loopholes that favor him). A man of order and tradition, everything is to be done the 'correct' way, making his business meetings sometimes last days. All this can turn if disrespected by a lesser, quickly turning a devastating sharp tongue, and when needed liberal use of the cane.

History

early life

Born to wealthy parents, Jalvir grew up in privilege, was educated in the best schools, and had access to the finest things. In his early teens, he did semesters in both Drake Vil and Sepa Acadamy. He technically disappeared at the age of 15, though in reality, he had in fact struck his first bargain and acquired a ship. Doing basic trade of supplies between Sepa academy and Rivell. This led to the start of his own wealth.

Trade guild

As his wealth grew, Jalvir expanded to trading between the various islands and Rivell. As he increased the number of trading he grew his fleet. During this time Jalvir moved more towards trading amongst the emerald Isles, setting up new trade posts and rising up other merchants. Using this as a base Jalvir and a few other prominent merchants started building a central trade 'guild' throughout the islands, this started putting more and more pressure on induvial merchants and even the cities as more and more had to bow to the guild's demands or suffer isolation, earning the title sea lord. Only trade from the Empire and Lacertillia seemed not to fall under the power of the guild. Jalvir started work on the gem sea trade charter, quickly realizing that it wouldn't stand with Lacertillia not being part of it.

Guild collapse, refocus and retirement

At thirty-three, Jalvir went as a representative to the conference of peace at Lacertilla, with the goal of using Lacertillia's victory to strengthen his guild and form the trade block, he found himself used as a pawn by his cousin Trafor against the larger powers present. realizing the treaty would give the islands back their power in trade, Jalvir shifted gears, allowing for trade contracts to be signed to ships as well as other cities. This allowed him to quickly become a leading trader in silk as the guild he spent years building crumbled around him. In 145 Dragon the first civilian Dis class ship was built for him, Still calling himself the sea lord despite the position becoming retired. Continuing to trade for several more decades Jalvir became the wealthiest man on the planet by his retirement at the age of 60, Where he seemingly disappeared from public life till his death.
