Prophet of Akoom

Origins

Brought to the world by Jam-Jam, the first prophet. Jam-Jam used his power to build an army of freed Orcs. By leading them to victory, Jam-Jam converted them to Akoom. Building a fort at an old slave camp and renamed it Akoomtet, Jam-Jam was elected to be their leader. Around him, a group of paladins and clerics were formed, hand-picked by Jam-Jam as a council.

Election and term

Upon the death of the previous Prophet, the council compiles a list of all eligible paladins, Each council member may put one name forward for election. Voting then commences removing the lowest candidate each time until a majority is reached. The elected person is then ascended to the position, being given the regalia. The Prophet then rules for life, this however could be a long time as prophets seemed to become abnormally healthy.

History and Dutys

Slave revolts, Jam-Jam

During the slave revolts, the Prophet was the general of the Blessed army. Forming both strategies and leading the troops into battle. During this period the prophet exercised complete authority over the army, a trait that would last until the fall of the empire.

Consolidation of Blessed plains

As the influence of Akoomtet grew, the position became more one of governmental responsibility. The council became the city council with the Prophet resembling more of a king. Several still lead troops into combat but it was no longer critical. During this time the council started electing from their own number.

Empire of Akoom

Several paladin Prophets expanded the kingdom to more of an empire. restructuring it more feudally similar to Rivell the Prophet took on an imperial responsibility. While local authority was passed to local leaders, the prophet took on more of an overseer role. This period also saw the first non-orc lineage take the position, the dwarf Yulgrick Rubyborn. During the reign of the Demon Prophet, he tried to recentralize power under him, proving unsuccessful, he did restore the position as a general.

Post empire

The Prophet is more of a mediator role for the blessed plains, acting as both a spiritual leader and diplomatic consult for the faithful. Though the regalia still is used the position is no longer a political one in charge of any kingdoms. It also started being occupied by more Dwarfs.

Crisis of the Fey age

With the northern 'successor' kingdoms coming under attack from undead hordes, the prophet started to take more of a military role again. This came to a head when Vauvoi Strongvigor was elected, even though he had no formal paladin or cleric training. For the first time since the demon prophet, the paladins had a holy warrior and general as their prophet.
