Optio
When a Dominus is assembled each Custodi chooses an Optio to assist them. The Optio is in charge of training and drilling the men on a day to day basis, and in combat they watch the formation from the rear to make sure it stays strong, that no one runs away, and to be sure the Castellan is aware of incoming orders or threats. They also serve as the primary logistic officer of the Castellan.
Qualifications
There are no special qualifications or requirements to becoming an Optio other than the favor of a Custodi. Although a smart Custodi will choose a competent Optio. Sadly this is not always the case.

Chosen by Custodi.
Duties
the Optio is chief logistics officer for the Castellan, as well as the master of orders and formations. As such they are responsible for training the other soldiers, keeping track of orders in combat, and requisitioning items needed by the Castellan.
Responsibilities
Procure supplies and equipment from the Quartermaster.
Drill soldiers in formations.
Maintain track of the Castellans supply wagon when on march.
Relay orders during combat.
Benefits
Other than the chance to be seen as a leader, the Optio gains no special benefits from their possition.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The Optio bears the Castellans' standard, and they often paint their helmets with a personalized pattern described by the Castellan.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
An Optio can be dismissed by their Custodi for any reason. Dismissal from higher authorities is usually in accompaniment of higher infractions.

The Optio serves at the discretion of their Custodi. There is no formal term limits.
