Castellan, Infantry
The Infantry Castellan is the most common form of the Castellan Formation, so much so that it is simply referred to as the Castellan, and all others have an alternate title, or the particular formation type added to it. This formation is the core of the Ahntier military, and has won them great victories.

Equipment
Each Castellan bears its own weapons, armor, and food supplies. On top of this the logistics of the Castellan bring equipment for setting up fortified positions, building roads and bridges, as well as the needed equipment for the repair and maintenance or weapons and armor.
Weaponry
Custodi: Breastplate Armor, Tower Shield, Gladius Sword.
Infantry: Breastplate Armor, Tower Shields, Long Spears, Long Swords.
Logistics: Short Swords. In the event of an attack on the camp the logistic personnel may take up whatever armor and shields they have in for repair.

Structure
The Custodi commands the Castellan, and is seconded by the Optio. Each Castellan is made up of ten Hastas, which each has an informal leader called the Decanus.
Tactics
Infantry Castellans utilize a Phalanx tactic, locking shields to create an impenetrable wall, with long spears jutted forward. In most set piece battles the Castellan will march forward as part of a Crusade and meet the enemy head on. If the enemy closes in, the first row will drop spears and draw long swords, while the second row begins spearing.
Training
All soldiers undergo a two year basic training, after which they must complete a four year mandatory service. Even after basic training is complete, the Castellan continues to drill and practice while in the field. The training is constant.
