Mawatt Settlement in Ugaron | World Anvil

Mawatt

Mawatt in an independent Celtic town in the territory of the Albae tribe in the Nation of Galletica.   Mawatt has long benefited from its location straddling the lands of the Celts and Fultar. Commerce north to Bevil is safer and speedier, but the old Fultonian road has never been abandoned. More profitable is commerce northeast into the western tribes of the Galletica as it is only one of two main pathways in to Galletica, with the other going directly north from Immersea.   Mawatt is first Celtic town leaving Northern Fultar along an old Fultonian road north, northwest into the Celtic lands to the towns of Bondar and Buntar, which is about 120 miles away and take a few weeks to trafvel through dense forest and hills. To the south 75 miles, is the town of Immersea, the most northeastern town in Fultar. The road to Immersea is over low lying forest, scrub land and then agricultural fields, and only take four days.   Mawatt is located on a small hill, and well fortified and defended with stone walls and watch towers, which is unsual for a Celtic village. Some of the most important people in Mawatt include:
  • The Chief is Harl Wartooth.
  • The Druidess is Bridgit.
  • The head of the town guard is Cadfan.
  • There has long been a contingent of Hennarian warriors hired by Chief Harl Wartooth, and they are lead by Eslas.
  • The head bard is Gwen.
Major events in Mawatt's recent history include:
  • Year of Iron 875: Harl Wartooth born
  • YR 897: Harl Wartooth becomes chief after his father Finn the Firebrand died.
  • YR 899: Mawatt provides assistance to a bandit group in Northern Fultar, called the River Rats.
  • YR 902: Lord Crispin Jared of Immersea leads a small force to attack Mawatt, but a negotiated treaty is agreed to prior to the village being attacked.
  • YR 903: Chief Harl Wartooth and Druidess Bridgit attend the Ascension of Chief Marshal Trant allying themselves with the elves, Donian Celts of the Fultar Forest and Immersea.
  • YR 908: Chief Harl Wartooth, Druidess Bridgit and Eslas attend the election of the Tarvish High Queen Tegwedd. The Chief sides with High Queen Tegwedd when High Queen Tegwedd is Elected at the Great Kingsmoot. All three distinguished themselves at the subsequent Battle of Lismore to destory the orcs, hobgoblins, eastern barbarian Karnak humans, and some forces from the Cetic tribes of the Venebones and Ordovocians.
