High Queen Tegwedd is Elected at the Great Kingsmoot

In Year of Iron 908, High Queen Tegwedd of the Tarvish was elected High Queen of the Nation of Galletica at the Great Kingsmoot. It was a one sided election in support of Queen Tegwedd.

Summary

The election occurred in a time of great turmoil and civil strife with an invasion of hobgoblins, Karnak barbarians invading Galletica, and King Govan of the Ordovocian tribe having been charmed by the Drow.   Queen Tegwedd, in her early 20s was a charismatic leader and a trained but unproven warrior. She was able to win the election as the widow the popular High King and she had the support of her uncle, Gas Mac Culain, the war leader of the Tarvish. He was the only leader that had everyone's confidence that he could win the war against the Hobgoblins, Drow and Karnaks.   The other candidates were King Govan of the Ordovocian tribe, who claimed the throne of the High Kingship based on family ties and being the most related to the dead High King Math. Legally, the most qualified to the High King. However, he was held up in the mountain fortress of Cathair for the Kingsmoot, and it was discovered that he had been charmed by the Drow advising the Humanoid armies. His beautiful wife, Queen Bodeccea lead his campaign, until King Govan's treachery was revealed. He eventually abdicated his throne after the charm wore off.   The only other serious candidate was the Venebones King Drool Mac Arcol, who lost in a landslide. The next day he left with the majority of his troops (20,000). However, his chief druid, Gweir, took 15,000 of the Venebones troops and joined the new High Queen in the war against the Hobgoblins and Karnaks. The Venebones were attacked after the war is over, a new Queen put in place and much of their territory annexed by the Albae, Tarvish and Uolocae.   The Brigantian King Mal Mac Triath supported Queen Tegwedd (after he was promised the hand of Queen Bodeccea who was born an Uolcae but is now married to King Govan of the Ordovocians).   The half-elf King Morgan of the Uolcae supported Queen Tegwedd (Alethia, the a member of The Order of the Swordmaidens of the White Oak, and Reidonaucht "Ray" Inemar Skelenchen Bruma, the Fultonian ambassador, worked out this deal after King Morgan could no longer support the Venebones because of their attack on Alethia and her companions when they were under his protection traveling back from meeting with him).  King Morgan also brought the support of the Druids of Sinann  Queen Gwenabwy of the Albae supported Queen Tegwedd from the start and was key to her gaining the High Queenship.   Prince Darirdaal Deathhunter of the northern elves promising his aid to help defend the Celts. He advised that the Celts would be wise to select a man of elvish blood to be the next high king. The Celts have prospered under the long lived reign of High King Math. However, the half-elf King Morgan supported Queen Tegwedd, and Prince Darirdaal refrained from supporting any candidate openly. Prince Darirdaal brought 500 elven archers to aid the Celts.   Fultonians were represented by a small party led by Alethia, a member of The Order of the Swordmaidens of the White Oak. Her job was to guard the Fultonian ambassador, Reidonaucht "Ray" Inemar Skelenchen Bruma, and included the half-elf first avisor Scelestus and his assistant the priestess of Tya Nehru, Ariadne, the barbarian Dylack from the Dylack swamp, the bard Govaine, a dozen mercenaries from the Barony of Bortlan (which were led by Lord Philpe Jor), two Celts (Amergin, a tall barrel chested warrior with scars, no shirt, blond with long mustache, no shoes, large gold ring, gold torc, steel helm with boar designs, and a raven and wolf companion, and the aged Druid Anoth ap Mael), and various camp followers. They were joined by the blind half-elf mage Placido once they reached Oilean Craig.   The Bevilians were represented by Count Erazamus, a bald and charismatic man in his 40s, with almost 1000 troops, including over 400 knights. His Captains are Socrates, Plato, Heraclitus, Aristotle, and Anaxamanter, and his High Priest was Thales with three acolytes Anishenes, Diogenes and Crates.   Prince Conyn ap Govan arrived and supported her after the other rulers learned his father had joined the humanoids and they pronounced him the legitimate King of the Ordovocians. Prince Conyn has about 10,000 troops or half what the party learned King Govan still has. King Govan has been declared an enemy of the Celts.   High Queen Tegwedd led an army of over 100,000 troops to fight the humanoids. Rough estimates of the troop count include the Bevilians, 15,000 Albae, 15,000 Venebones, 15,000 Uolocae, 5,000 elves, 30,000 Tarvish, 10,000 Ordovicians, and 20,000 Brigantians.   The army was traveled to Lismore, a Tarvish fortress town that the humanoid armies were besieging after they had convinced the King Govan to change sides and give up his mountain fortress of Cathair.   Lismore had about 20,000 Tarvish troops defending it. High Queen Tegwedd and her army besieged the besiegers, which had their own huge an army of 150-200,000 troops. The Celts waited for an additional 30,000 troops of Brigantians to arrive before staging the final battle that utterly defeated the humanoid and barbarian armies.
