Crispin Jared

Crispin Jared is a half-elf lord of Immersea in Northern Fultar.   Lord Jared was trained as a soldier, but his natural inclination was toward the arts: music, literature, poetry and song. To please his mother he trained as a warrior and trained to serve the Empire. He knew that the army life was not for him, and found his vocation as a mercentary, body guard and adventurer. Longing to be bard, he trained to be a wizard and quickly learned that, while he could learn the basic skills, he was not smart of enough to be a great mage. He tried many other careers, including a smuggler, thief, actor and teacher, and always found himself allied with the Druids. Finally, he became a Bard of the Old Order, which was trained by the Druids and uses priestly rather than wizard magic.

Lord of Immersea

In Year of Iron 895, he inherited the title Lord of Immersea when his distant uncle Lord Lowrey Hogden died after a falling from the walls of Castle Immersea after a drunken winter holiday feast. Lord Hogden had one brief moment of glory in YR 880, bravely serving in the Battle of Emridy Meadows to help destroy the Temple of Elemental Evil. Lord Hogden oversaw the decline of Immersea, as it was besought by bandits, poor manorial management, corruption, and conflicts with the Fultonian steepe town of Rakar, the Guar and the Galletican town of Mawatt.   Lord Jared has dedicated himself to the improvement of the town of Immersea, using magic to increase the size and build additional buildings in Castle Immersea, using funds from adventuring to rebuild the town walls, paying the Druids to improve the wine vineyards, founding the Bardic College, and brining numerous new craftsfolk and merchants. Immersea has gained a potter, rug maker, glass blower, inn keeper, merchants, fish monger, teachers, a Druid, more peasants, and a small community of dwarven mineres. Despite his efforts at improvement, his years as lord have been difficult with bandits, conflict with an ancient evil mage Animi, war with the Guar, and the partial destruction of a section of the town by a stone golem.   Major political accomplshments of his career, include, in Year of Iron 903, Lord Jared ally himself with the elves, Donian Celts and smugglers during the Ascension of Chief Marshal Trant, helping forge what has been a lasting treaty. In YR 907, he also sent a delegation to the Kingsmoot when High Queen Tegwedd is Elected at the Great Kingsmoot that was critical in supporting High Queen Tegwedd and fostering a long-term alliance with the Nation of Galletica.   He founded the Bardic College, which is an ecumenical school designed to bring together the main bardic professions, including the magic using Fultonian bards, the priestly magic using Celtic bards, and the Druidic trained bards of the Old Order. The Bardic College also is intended to provide a good education to the children rich merchants, tradesfolk and clergy, and other gifted young ones, be a place of learning of the arts of music, literature, poetry and drama, and house a library. Construction of the Bardic College started in YR 902 and was complete in YR 907. There are only a handful of teachers, and much of the academic program, students and library are yet to be realized.   In YR 902, Lord Jared brought a group of Suan Hill dwarves from the Barony of Atlan to the Tesser River Valley and established them as miners. The dwarves had been part of an unsuccessful war against the Fultonian military. The dwarves considered joining many of their brethren who immigrated to dwarven towns in the Inner Reaches, like Hammerfast, Hammerholme and Thunderdelve. However, the desire to have a fresh start, their distrust of the Katheroi and Sentinel Fortress as overlords and Lord Jared's promises of being a free town, led them to traveling far to the north. In YR 902, the malefolk arrived and, with great difficulty, in YR 904, the womenfolk and children arrived.   In YR 904, Lord Jared was granted legal title to the land the dwarven miners have settled in, providing the dwarves with Imperial protection, and some lands outside of the village of Ratchin, called Weedspur.   In YR 904, Lord Jared invests in making the annual Wine Festival into a major regional two week event with the first Head and Mallet coemption (a brutal form of polo), smaller competitions for archery, wrestling and horse racing, poetry, singing and music, with plays and other entertainment.   Lord Jared has many contacts throughout all levels of Northern Fultonian society due to his years of being a mercentary and adventurer with the Druids, the underworld in Critlip and Ratchin, and the military and Fultonian Nobility in the capital Fulton.

Family

Lord Jared was born to a petty noble woman in the Barony of Lithia of the Jared family. His father was a wandering high elven bard, who he never met. From his father he inherited his love of song, story and music as well as a sense of abandonment, which led to him having an overly strict sense of responsibility. His mother sought to be a The Order of the Swordmaidens of the White Oak, a paladin in the service of Tya Nehru, but lacked the necessary leadership qualities and charisma. She then became a priestess of Tya Nehru. Instead of serving the wealthy or entering politics, she dedicated her efforts to Fultar's efforts to colonize and civilize the known world.   Lord Jared is married to Lady Eva Lithia Jared, the youngest daugher of the Baron of Lithia. He pursued and married her over the objection of her family. Lord Jared and Lady Eva have three children two twins (girl and boy), and he has two girls from prior relationships, including a wood elven nature priestess Thistle and a Guar princess. The children living with him are Meereen Jared (half-Guar, 10 years old), Theon Jared (twin of Beatrice, 4 years old), Beatrice Jared (twin of Theon, 4 years old), and Ella Jared (3 years old). His daughter, Lazel (13 years old), lives with her mother, Thistle, a priestess of Rillifan Rallathil.
