Coros Kennes

As you approach the ruines of Coros Kennes, the enormousness of the scale slowly dawns on you. A giant round entrance immediately stands out, large enough for a ship's belly to enter. Several large dome-shaped wings of this former palace spring into sight, each the size of an amphitheater.
When the Old Ones arrived and the Sea Dragons became prey, Coros Kennes was attacked and abandoned short after. The temple's visitors demographic now consists of schools of fish, oblivious to the great history of these walls and a handful of those that still believe in and worship sea dragons. These worshipers are dubbed as cultists by the odd visitor that comes with a different motive, which most of the time is treasure hunting.

Purpose / Function

Coros Kennes used to be a busy place of worship, with many visitors everyday and a permanent staff to tend to the sea dragon king. Pilgrims came from all over the seas to present offers to the Sea Dragon King and receive his blessing. The king's court, consisting of every species that wished to attend, would rule over any quarrels and legal discussions.

Architecture

Many rooms in the temple are of monumental size to allow for the gigantic body of a sea dragon to attend, such as the offer room, dining hall, audience room and library. The temple library is a very large cliff wall that is engraved with knowledge from the past. At the end of the room, the engravings seem to continue, but another stone wall seems to have collided with the engraved wall, shutting off and protecting the text from the outside world. An engraving on the floor reads that this was the work of the daughter of the sea dragon king.   Smaller rooms had more practical purposes for small and medium sized creatures. Sleeping quarters, offering preparation rooms and a dungeon for prisoners (or upcoming live offers) are among these smaller rooms.

History

Long before the Era of Chaos, Sea Dragons were worshiped by all aquatic life as gods. The sea dragons never had a need to hide and became easy prey for the Old Ones. Almost the entire species was extinguished and though some managed to survive, the arrival of the new gods made that the sea dragons were never worshiped to the same extend. Only a handful of worshipers remain, aiding the last of the sea dragons in their concealed existence while being dubbed as cultists.
