Calon ò Oulau

Whereas elsewhere in Faellys feels quite thinly populated and very much like a wilderness, this tree-based city radiates the business of an actual capital. The air is filled with pixies, sprites, faerie dragons (of which some are ferry dragons), aaracokra and other being, with and without wings. The massive trunk of the tree is dotted with small holes, knots and outcroppings, which house the various denizens of Calon ò Oulau. These homes are often decorated with floating lanterns, decorational fabrics, beautiful flowering plants, and (sometimes illusionary) clouds of butterflies and other small animals. Everyone of these homes seems to be grown directly from the trunk, and seems to be still growing. For non-flying creatures pendel flights and staircases carved around and within the trunk are the major means of transportation.

The Council Chamber
A long, stepless staircase, which also seems to be a still living part of the tree itselfs, winds around the trunk and can bring you to halfway up the treetrunk, where it arrives at a massive opening framed by pillars of lianas and guarded by hidded dryads, mobile aaracokra and intimidating treants, which look small compared to the dimensions of this archway. This is where the Cyngor is seated.

The Place of Gylch
At the place where the trunk makes place for the crown, which itself houses various families of Aarocokras, who build their nests between the branches, is another larger opening, which draws attention because of the soft white-blue light that shines from within. This is the most sacred sanctuary for Fetena in Faellys. This is the place where the dead recieve their final rites, babies are blessed, and favoured souls are renewed. Entrance to the place is strictly forbidden for anyone but a few selected members from the Phen and some exceptional cases where an outsider is explicitely invited by the ones with access. Even members of the Cyngor are rarely allowed entrance, and can not grant entrance to anyone. Unauthorised visitors will be killed without hesitation or fair trial by the guardian of this place, a rare silkmoth Sidhe, Mori, one of the most loyal and fierce paladins of Fetena.

Lón Oulau
High up in the trunk, only reachable by means of flight, is Lón Oulau, which functions as a shelter for lost travellers and other individuals not fit to freely walk about Faellys. Outsiders who are too skilled to die from one of the many hazards in Faellys, but who are not lucky enough to find their way back home or establish a place for themselves within Faellys society, are placed here in protective custody, sometimes for a definite period of time, sometimes for the rest of their lives. The amount of freedom given to the residents of Lón Oulau is dependent on the individual situation, but most are not allowed outside.

The Inverted City

Down on the ground, in the immens space between the sinuous roots of the moontree, lies the social heart of Calon ò Oulau, and of Faellys as a whole. There is lively trade going on, with all sorts of tents, stages, and shady alcoves, full of people trying to sell their wares in a subtle and manipulative game against curious costs. Their is food to be found, from all over Faellys and even beyond its borders, as diverse and colourful as the inhabitants of this strange place. Various games and competitions are being held in magical skill, arts, crafts, physical power and any combination of those things, including the immensly popular Anirhoi. The overall intensity of this place is overwhelming, with the ground and air filled with all sorts of creatures: the noble bright fae and their beastfolk entourage, ferry dragons transporting people, goods and messages, and sometimes even a sporefolk poking their head awkwardly out of one of the tunnels leading deeper down.
Looking up, you see that the trunk of the tree is hollow. In the low light of many floating lanterns and drifting faerie lights you can see hundreds and hundreds of homes placed on the inside of the stem. Some are holes in the remaining wood, some are living protrusions grown out of this wood. Together they form a lively, vertical city. A broad staircase winds from the earthen floor to where the root system transitions to the actual stem and continues further upwards along the inside of the stem, functioning as the city's highway.
