Culture: Emburn is a province split in many ways. On paper, it follows the same Oligarchical structure as everywhere else. But in truth, it is a land where criminal syndicates, noble ambition, and forgotten gods share the same alleys. The furred and scaled peoples maintain deep ancestral tensions, clashing over land, resources, and inherited wounds.

Among the Serfs and Commoners, worship of the forgotten goddess Solacear grows with each year. Her small flame is tended in basement altars, behind taverns, or carved discreetly into the walls of shanty kitchens. The poor and the suffering whisper her name while warming their hands over gutter fires. In her warmth, they endure.

Meanwhile, the Nyakuza, led by the enigmatic and sharp-clawed Em-Purr-Ess, rule the streets and shadows of furred society. Her were-cat enforcers enforce an underground order of loyalty and vengeance. Their rivals, the Kremlins, are a brutal network of scaled smugglers, extortionists, and alchemists led by Scalord K. Rool, whose operations wind through sewers and marsh alike.

Economy:
Emburn’s economy thrives on both the legitimate and the illicit:

Dairy and Exotic Livestock (House Nin): Known for milking everything from Goatersnipes to the infamous Strex and Moonsters. Their cheese wheels are exported under heavy guard and questionable smell.

Silk and Leather Goods (House Sheer): Their giant spiders spin silk of unmatched durability. The Goatersnipe’s hide, while violently difficult to acquire, is turned into fashionable coats

Fishing and Kelp Cultivation (House Do-Fish): They specialize in Quipper-breeding and harvesting seaborn delicacies.

Trade and Finance (House Do-Biz): The true muscle of the province’s economy, House Do-Biz keeps the books balanced and the bribes flowing.

Smuggling and Underground Trade: Orchestrated by The Paws (Lead by the Em-Purr-ess) and The Kremlins (Lead by Scalord K Rool), this hidden economy trades in forbidden items, potions, poisons, exotic animals, and occasionally even people.

History:

Emburn was once a backwater swamp deemed unprofitable by most Great Houses. That changed when House Do lobbied for its claim under House Dinn’s banner. They offered what the province had in spades: secrecy, location, and plausible deniability. Emburn became a dumping ground for lesser nobles and unruly vassals. House Do, then a minor trade family, capitalized on this by making Emburn indispensable. Over time, they brought in Dinn’s full backing, solidifying their position as the province's rulers. Over time, nobles the nobles, that were sent here as punishment or unofficial exile, would create a tense stew of ambition and resentment. In that pressure cooker, The Em-Purr-Ess built a criminal empire from broken promises and hidden ports, while Scalord K. Rool rallied the jungle's scaled tribes with gold, alchemy, and raw brutality. These forces combined with the general corrupt nature of the ruling nobles would create an immense criminal underground where the weak die and wicked thrive.
