Personal history

Tandariel was born in Luicarnyelle village to a family of spellcasters. His grandmother had been a part of Miluril Starbrow's inner circle before the War of Ascension and the family took a fierce pride in the fact that she had given her life to protect Lord Starbrow. As a result Tandariel grew up constantly hearing stories about the Lord Starbrow's magnificence and how it was Tandariel's duty to continue the family tradition of studying the noble art of necromancy.   Tandariel was a willing student and eagerly absorbed whatever magical teaching was offered to him. Though he was found to have the aptitude necessary to study as a spellweaver, he was unwilling to forgo his education in necromancy in order to follow that path.   It was ultimately Tandariel's love of necromancy that led to him being banished from his home village. Having learned the basics of magic Tandariel was keen to try applying his spells to somethings other than destruction. Knowing that the art of animating corpses was still frowned on in some circles, Tabdariel would sneak off into the forest to practice on recently killed animals like birds and squirrels. Unfortunately in 155 RAL his activities were noticed by Eristhal Silverleaf, a cleric who's deity frowned on the practice of animating corpses.   Eristhal called for a vote on Tandariel's fate and though Nurrimar argued strongly in his son's defence, Eristhal won the vote and Tandariel was banished from the village. With help from his father Tandariel moved first to Calen Tal tel’Taure and then later to Laicosto in hopes of studying under his hero, Miluril Starbrow. While there he was one of the first to hear of Starbrow's Ascension.   In 58 SB Tandariel and his wife, Lissanna, travelled back to Luicarnyelle village with a proposal for the villagers. Tandariel wanted to create a new kind of animated servant, following the teachings of the newly ascended Starbrow. With the help of Lissanna, herself a cleric of Starbrow, Tandariel was able to persuade the villagers to let me return. With Lissanna taking over as the cleric of the most popular deity it was not long before Eristhal was cast out as a troublemaker.   Over the next couple of centuries Tandariel worked on dealing with the objections that people had to the idea of using animated corpses as servants. He left some of the more philisophical questions to his wife, who was better suited to interpreting the will of Starbrow, while he focused more on the practical. Some of the problems, such as the need to find a way to suitably preserve a body, required Tandariel to travel to other continents like Beraca in search of lost techniques.   The second years of darkness put an end to Tandariel's travels but by that time he had assembled all the knowledge he needed to create his ritual of Final Service. Following tradition on Voting in Luicarnyelle Tandariel asked the whole village about whether he should proceed with the creation of the first of his Dariworkers. Once permission was granted it was simlpy a case of waiting till a volunteer died in 261 SB.   Tandariel spent the rest of his life overseeing the creation of Dariworkers and travelling around the forest to promote their use. While endorsed by the Church of the Starbrow it was difficult to persuade people to set aside millennia of prejudice against animating corpses. Many of Tandariel's trips to encourage people to volunteer their bodies ended in failure, but he always took comfort in seeing how successful his creations were in Luicarnyelle village.   When Tandariel passed away his body was naturally turned into a Dariworker which was assigned to maintaining the chamber where new Dariworkers are created.
