Grusk

The fourth Frostburn Class vessel, named for least well known of the adventurers who defeated Andaxius.

A Fourth Name

There was much debate about what to name this vessel. The first three had been named for well known heroes but Frostburn company hadn't been comprised purely of the great and good. The secretive Roke disappeared in an accident in Redwood. Orlin was charged with multiple crimes, and the mysterious Grusk disappeared after Andaxius was slain, only to re-emerge leading a group of northern barbarians.   Grusk was eventually chosen as the safest option, with the ship's motto acknowledging the fact that you need more than one kind of person to overcome the world's trials.   As the fourth vessel, HMS Grusk was at the back of the queue for most things. In theory resources were divided equallly between the expedition vessels, but the Grusk always got last pick in terms of crew, adventurers and equipment. The captain, Jeren Covewatch is painfully aware of this and the fact that many view him as also being the last pick for captain.

Ship's complement

Like the other Frostburn vessels, HMS Grusk was built to transport mercenaries and crafters to Lephia. Each ship carries a sufficient range of passengers to (in theory) be able to carry out the expedition even if only one ship made it, but each also carries an extra complement of specialists. HMS Grusk carries the optional crafts - those that would be helpful but not essential. This includes an alchemist, a tanner, and an Arcanist. Some of these crafters require dangerous components for their work and their cargo is an additional worry for the captain and the crew.

Ill Fortune
From the earliest days of her sea trials the Grusk acquired a reputation for bad luck. Her first time out on open water was marred by an unseasonal storm which damaged the main mast. A broken bollard led to her swinging around on the dock causing damage that took weeks to repair.
Throwing Bottles
Rather than just worry about the fact the ship is carrying some highly flammable materials Jeren set several of his crew to devising a mechanism for safely throwing bottles a long distance from the ship. Since there was going to be an alchemist onboard Jeren reasoned that he might as well see if there was a way to use one of an alchemists best known products in a ship to ship fight.
