Faith of the Unfaithful

Those Who Worship Nothing

The Faith of the Unfaithful is a religious group that claims to be anti-religion, as they follow the God of Demons, the Demon Lord also called the All Consuming Evil, or simply Chernobog. Many also worship the other Demon Lords beneath Chernobog, but not all do so.

A Religion with No Rules

Chernobog by Jarhed
There is no fully endorsed, organized religion around Chernobog and his Demons. The main reason for this is words from the All Consuming Evil himself, as he says:
"People look to me and see what they see in every other imbecile that sits in the Heavens, calling themselves a God, and so I get branded with that same foolish title.   I am no God... I am everything they fear. I am their undoing... for I am the mouthpiece of the true Gods. Take up my words as your weapons and dismantle the system these false idols have built!"
— Chernobog
Therefore, most people instead follow his teachings of these, so-called, "True Gods."   Due to this, there are only vague guidelines of what his followers should do, and most of them are simply to dismantle the religions that are spread around Totania and stop them from digging their claws any further.   That being said, there are some groups that take it upon themselves to organize and claim themselves as the official faith of Chernobog, or at least as official as one can get without his full endorsement.

Guardians of the Mist

The most prominent of these groups are the Guardians of the Mist, a group of warriors that work to forcefully rid Totania of the Gods influence. They are said to be dangerous warriors, each bearing a curse from one of the Demon Lords which hinders their daily life, yet also is designed to aid them against holy forces.   It is said that the Guardians of the Mist consider themselves the definitive faith of Chernobog, but Chernobog himself only sees them as a means to an end, having said of them:
"It is useful to have a fierce fighting force that believes in me... but tehy worship me as if I were a God and the words that I say are my teachings. I am only a preacher, a mouthpiece... still, they will be most useful against the Gods, so I cannot complain. I will simply bide my time."
— Chernobog
They can be distinguished best by a set of black armor made from an unknown metal, which each of them wears, alongside tattoos that they bear in the name of Chernobog.

Cult of the Void

The Cult of the Void is a feared, shadowy organization of those that believe in Chernobog and, more often, follow the other Demon Lords.   The Cult of the Void are known best for their black robes, which mimic the most common depiction of Chernobog himself. Many adorn these robes with symbols of the Demon Lord whom their particular sect may be closest to.   Often, the Cult of the Void attempts to find perfect vessels to summon their Demon Lord through Demonic Possession, and each member generally is possessed by a minor Demon of their own. They do not let Demon Lords possess them, as they do not usually wish to lose full control of themselves and wish to serve beside the Demon Lord. They do not believe themselves worthy of hosting such a being.   There are often conspiracy theories that the people who run the nations of the world have something to do with the Cult of the Void, but this is ridiculous. There are only six known accounts of this ever being true in the entire history of the world.

Unfaithful Ones

The final major known group are those that belong to no group at all, but simply follow Chernobog's teachings. These are said to be his true followers, but as there is no actual organization around it, there is little ease in actually understanding this group.   All that is known is their faith is strong in Chernobog's teachings, and their faith in everything else is weak. What he says is everything to them.
