Cutalazz
Cutalazz is the Jester of Death, who capers from one adventure to another. He left the Golden Throne and its gilded responsibilities, for an existence where he can do the most good for people. He is a force for good, but he does not seek endless rules and laws, only the simple judgement about what is right and what people need to thrive. He is also the God of Peace, Laughter and Wine. When all hope seems lost against the darkness, Cutalazz and his laughter can bring warmth and light back to the world, and even as winter grows cold outside, many still lift a mulled wine in his name. He detests the forces of Undeath, Fear and War, and untimely death. His closest allies include Hevren, who sees the appointed hour for all death, and they both oppose those that would bring an early ending to mortal kind.
Cutalazz has always been a roguish, charming God, who enjoys practical jokes, performances and lavish parties. “Better to celebrate and be amongst friends towards the end,” he says, “than to mope and be alone.”
He is a loyal, energetic and active God, and his paladins and priests can be found whenever undeath is at its strongest or tending communities after long wars or plagues.
Despite the wide appreciation for Cutalazz, there is still a significant fear of him, for nobody truly likes death, and his clerics and followers are often treated with nervousness when they arrive in a town, for nobody is sure whether they follow death… or death follows them. They are welcomed with parties and gifts, and very quickly invited to visit a neighbouring town.
Tenets of Faith
- No Undeath shall be permitted to thrive;
- Death is not to be feared, but welcomed and warmed;
- Great violence or suffering must be ended;
- Suffer not a murder to go unpunished;
- Raise a glass to Cutalazz at the Great Festivals, and provide for those who cannot do the same;
- Laughter is the greatest gift given to the world, embrace it often;
- Mock those of dark heart, for it cuts them the deepest who crave power;
- Heal often, help often, but when it is time for goodbye, step back;
- Remember the dying and the dead with fond memories, save those who have brought evil in their wake – for those, remember them with every vice they performed;
- Shadows and deceit are no match for Death, do not allow treachery to flourish.
