Nymue and her brother, Nillian, were born in the
Feywild. Children of Corellon they grew up in one of the city of the feywild.
Nymue practiced her
Magic, in her youth, she attempted to master the druidic forces, as her older brother had, but the sorcery called to her in a way that the magic of the land did not. When her brother found his path, Nymue was still searching for her destiny.
War of the Ancients
4955 BD through 4921 BD
When their father came back, announcing his mistake, and the beginning of a war against the demons, Nillian convinced Nymue to leave her queen. Nymue followed her brother and father and fought the horde of demons. But as the dragons entered the battle, Nillian came to understand that their adversaries were too powerful to fall in combat. Nymue found that she increasingly admired the powers of the demons, seeing a magical purity that underlay their chaotic behavior. Where the elves struggled to maintain their ground, the demons' number did not seem to permanently diminish.
Nymue became an important leader of the elven armies. However, Nymue did not use those forces to their fulest potential. Instead of having them cast spells, he ordered them to transfer their power into her. thus empowering her own spells instead, but in doing so, this opened them to attack from the demons with no means to defend themselves.
Battle of the Ironfang
late 4946 BD
This battle occurs as part of the larger effort to push into the heart of the Abyssal rift. The dragons launched an offensive to strike at the demon’s strategic strongholds along the rift’s borders. The Battle of the Ironfang is marked by brutal skirmishes and fierce confrontations against elite demon troops.
During the battle, Nymue Loth, commanding a vast elven host, performed a devastating ritual. She channeled the life force of her soldiers through her own body, unleashing their combined power to annihilate the demonic horde. The ritual drained the soldiers completely—leaving their lifeless bodies scattered across the battlefield.
In that moment, Nymue understood a grim truth: sacrifice was the only path to true victory. The others, she realized, were too blinded by sentiment to see what must be done. To her, their reluctance was folly. She alone had the will to act.
With the help of the dragon gods, the mortal armies took over the stronghold while the dragons battled the demons, marking an important victory for the inhabitants of the material plane as they gain ground near the abyssal rift.
Nymue had strong feeling for Eithne, a novice druid. Nymue so desired to impress Eithne that she often acted without thinking, particularly in magic; she never realized that these displays weren't quite what the druid was looking for. But while Nymue struggled to win her heart, none of them realized that the battle was over soon after it had begun; Eithne had chosen Nillian almost from the beginning. Corrupted by the influence of the demon she was fighting, Nymue convinced herself that if Nillian were to die, she would no longer have a rival for Eithne's love. Finally, the sight of Eithne in the arms of her brother shattered her final ties to the elves.
Siege of the Abyssal Gate
4933 BD through 4930 BD
After the crusade forces reclaim Vexinoth, and bolstered by their success, they attempt to attack demon controlled territories near the abyssal rift, especially as recent information suggest demons are opening more rift to allow more reinforcements.
This siege occurs at a major demon-held fortress located on the edge of the abyssal rift. The fortress, known as the Abyssal Gate, serves as a key portal for demonic forces to enter the material plane. Corellon Loth and Achille lead an assault to close the gate and sever the flow of demonic reinforcements.
A small legion of dragons, who refused to hide, unlike their gods, use this opportunity to launch an assault directly into the abyss.
Talonixa leads her small legion into the abyss, but he and her troops are never heard of again after this day.
Diving into the heat of battle to forget her torment, Nymue joined the assault of Talonixa with a plan. There she separated from the legion of dragons and feigned allegiance to the demon lord. Nymue plan was to obtain the Dragon soul, an artifact of great power created by
Neltharion, which had great power, and was said to had the ability to close the portal which was allowing the demons to enter Toriel. However, to put this plan in action, Nymue had to gain more power.
Nymue was eventually brought before
Batara himself, who quickly discovered the elf's plan to obtain the Dragon Soul for the demons. Batara was pleased with this plan and gave Nymue a gift in return for her allegiance. Nymue's eyes were burned out by Batara, and orbs of magical power set their place that allows Nymue to see all forms of magic, and tattoos covered her body. When Nymue's eyes were burned out, she also received a vision of the true strength of the demons. She resolved then to find a way to defeat them for good. Batara was fascinated by the Nymue, but remained cautious, sending his demons to accompany Nymue in her search for the Dragon Soul.
Alexstrasza's liberation
4931 BD
The demons succeeded in stealing the dragon soul from Neltharion's hoard. Nymue reunited with the elves, which now greatly mistrusted her after seeming to betray them and hand over the key to victory to the demons. But working alongside the dragons, they worked to retrieve the dragon soul from the demons clutch and to save Alexstrasza.
In a desperate bid to distract the demons and reclaim the artifact, Neltharion devised a plan to relocate Alexstrasza, intending to subject her to further torment once the artifact was recovered.
Fortunately, intervention from the other dragon gods led to Alexstrasza's liberation. Additionally, the dragon soul was wrested from both the demons and Neltharion by
Nozdormu.
Aftermath
4921 BD
After the end of the war, and the mourning of her father, who died in battle, Nymue was to be punished for her betrayal. Bearing the mark of the demons on her body, Nillian ordered her imprisoned deep in a jail kept far from sight and mind. Nillian would later not that sometimes he went to visit his sister in her prison.
Release from prison
Nymue languished for 1,000 years in a lightless prison, blessed with demonic power, Nymue was not affected by the passage of time. Generations of elves succeeded to keep constant guard over the Betrayer. Release came at the unexpected hands of Eithne, who slaughtered the elf guards in the hopes of using Nymue against the demons, as she had vision of their return to Toriel, the
Demonlord Ashlesh would soon invade Toriel. With her love for Eithne undampened through the centuries of confinement, Nymue agreed to help. She swore to throw back the demons and to depart from the elves forever.
Successors of Nillian opposed Eithne's decision, has they had been taught of the wrongdoing of Nymue, and thinking the release of Nymue a catastrophic mistake. Frustrated that her brother ideas had were passed down the generations and eager to prove to them that the demons had no hold over her, Nymue left them behind. While in the wood of the vales, she encountered a devil, a champion among his kind, and they engaged in combat. The fighters were equally matched, and the combatants reached an impasse. Nymue stopped the duel and demanded to know why the devil had tracked her. The devil responded openly, telling Nymue that the demonic corruption was spreading among those woods and that the devil aimed to stop them. To ensure that Nymue would take the bait, the devil spared no detail of their power unaware of the falsehood he propagated, adding that his master knew of Nymue's thirst for power. Although Nymue did not trust, she nevertheless sought to meet his master.
Grolantor welcomed Nymue into his domain and offered her the power she sought—a strength unparalleled, capable of defeating demons and annihilating her enemies. Yet, this power came at a cost. To claim it, Nymue would have to feast on the souls of the dead, corrupting herself into a devil. Grolantor savored every moment of her torment as she struggled with the decision. Finally, Nymue succumbed, tainting her soul with darkness. As she devoured the souls of fallen elves, Grolantor relished the spectacle—it was his most exquisite feast, and Nymue was both guest and meal.
But once her transformation was complete, Grolantor revealed his deceit. Though he had bestowed upon her the promised power, there were no demons to fight, no war on the horizon. Betrayed and furious, Nymue lashed out against the archdevil. Yet, Grolantor easily overpowered her.
For months, Nymue wandered, consumed by rage and despair. She gorged on souls to grow stronger, each one pulling her further into darkness. Her skin turned a deep, unnatural purple, and her eyes glowed with green fire, devoid of pupils. By the time she returned to confront Grolantor, she was no longer recognizable as the warrior she once was.
Her fury was unrelenting. First, she slew Grolantor’s chancellor, the devil who had orchestrated her corruption. Then, she challenged Grolantor himself. Yet again, she was defeated. Grolantor’s strength, born from his pact to rise above mockery and weakness, made him a nearly invincible foe. Realizing she could not overpower him directly, Nymue devised a cunning plan.
She learned that Grolantor’s strength was tied to the integrity of his infernal pact, a bond that could be undone if he were mocked and humiliated—the very thing he had sworn to overcome. To break him, she needed to tarnish his image in the most public way possible. Nymue began spreading rumors, whispering that Grolantor was no more than a fool with brute strength. But fear of the archdevil’s wrath kept most silent.
Determined, Nymue issued a challenge for a final, decisive duel, in full view of Grolantor’s infernal court. Confident in his power, Grolantor accepted. Yet Nymue had no intention of fighting him directly. Instead, she used powerful illusion magic to project images of his giant brothers—the very ones who had betrayed him—watching the fight and laughing at his every move.
With each strike that landed on an illusion, Grolantor’s frustration grew. He swung wildly at phantoms, stumbling and roaring as the crowd began to murmur. Finally, one bold voice in the audience dared to mock him, and others joined in. The jeers broke Grolantor’s composure, sending him into a frenzied massacre of the spectators.
But it was too late. The mockery had shattered his pact, and with it, his infernal power began to wane. Blinded by rage, Grolantor was vulnerable. Nymue seized the moment, launching a relentless attack. This time, the enraged but weakened archdevil could not withstand her assault. With one final blow, Nymue slew Grolantor, his immense form collapsing into ash.
Thus, Nymue Loth ascended as the new archdevil of gluttony.
archdevil of gluttony
Unlike her predecessor, Nymue cared little for food or feasts. She refused to partake in the bland, tasteless offerings of the Seven Hells. However, she soon accepted a far more potent indulgence—the surge of power that coursed through her as she consumed the souls of the deceased. Each soul she devoured made her stronger, filled her with an intoxicating sense of might, and she found herself unable to resist. Regularly, she gorged on souls, her hunger for strength insatiable.
Over time, Nymue came to accept this part of her devilish nature. The corruption that infused her being—a fusion of demonic influence and infernal power—became a source of unparalleled strength. As an archdevil, she stood as a formidable entity, her might enough to challenge gods themselves. She reveled in her newfound power, preparing herself for the day when demons might dare to rise again. If that day came, Nymue vowed, she would be ready to crush them.
Family grudge
Nymue, having ascended as the Archdevil of Gluttony, is consumed by bitterness and regret for her past actions. The centuries of torment, Grolantor's betrayal and her transformation into a devil has warped her. Corellon, her father, becomes a symbol of everything she has lost—innocence, love, and her place among the elves.
Nymue sees Corellon’s unwavering devotion to the elves as both noble and naive. She believes his love for them has blinded him to their flaws and caused him to neglect her suffering. Her emotions are complicated. Despite her bitterness, a part of her still seeks Corellon’s recognition and approval. She schemes a plot to kill her father, serving both as revenge and as a desperate cry for his attention.
Using her cunning and devilish powers, Nymue devises a long-term scheme to lure Corellon into a trap. She exploits the elves’ distrust of her to manipulate events in her favor. she starts by spreading rumors of a growing demon resurgence near elven lands, knowing Corellon will act to protect his people. Disguised as a repentant former demon, Nymue manipulates the elven leader of
Syngorn into summoning Corellon for aid. She pretends to be working against a new demonic threat, earning their reluctant trust.
Nymue orchestrates the opening of a rift to seven hells, disguising it into a rift to the abyss. From the gates of hell, her devils, disguised as demons pour into Syngorn, forcing Corellon to intervene personally. As Corellon intervenes, he understands the trickery, aware that this rift leads to the seven hells, but before he can warn the elves of the betrayal of their demonic advisor, he is pulled into the seven hells.
Unaware that his daughter is behind the plot, Corellon fights the legion of devils waiting for him in this unfavorable terrain. The god of the elves fully intends to close the rift and protect the elves, but Nymue finally arrives. She reveals her true form and intentions, a reunion between a father and his daughter as both have changed in the last millennium.
Nymue confronts her father with accusations of abandonment, neglect, and hypocrisy. She mocks his failure to save her from corruption and his inability to protect their people throughout history. A tragic battle ensues between father and daughter. Corellon, reluctant to fight Nymue, tries to reason with her, but her rage and infernal power overwhelm him.
As the battle reaches its climax, Corellon, weakened by guilt and the emotional toll of fighting his daughter, falls. With his dying breath, Corellon forgives Nymue, telling her he never stopped loving her and expressing hope that she will one day find redemption.
The elves feel the shock of their god’s death through the planes. His divine essence is snatched by Brandobaris who becomes the god of journey and freedom in addition to thievery and adventure. Nymue is left hollow, her vengeance fulfilled but her pain unrelieved. The act of killing Corellon shatters the last vestiges of her elven identity. She retreats to her infernal domain, consumed by sorrow and self-loathing.
Unlike her other victims, Nymue did not consume her father's soul, keeping it trapped within her domain, Nymue watched her father's soul with sorrow and bitterness: Even in death he couldn't bring her happiness.
Nymue’s actions have lasting consequences. The elves begin to see her as the ultimate cautionary tale—a reminder of the dangers of unchecked ambition and the corrupting power of vengeance.
