History
Lilliana is a Yuan-ti pureblood of the Chezucore theocracy. She is a renowned wizard both among Yuan-ti and through tan's empire, an expert in Necromancy, she also study Chronomancy and is only known for the later within the empire.
She works as an independent searcher working for the Academy of magic within the empire, a false identity she takes pride in as she also serves as a spy for the Chezucore. As a member of Chezucore she pray to Noxia, however her work as a chronomancer also push her to closely study Nozdormu, which she find herself respecting and revering from time to time.
Hired research
Liliana was hired by the Brownoak family to investigate ancient scripture in their possession. Through her study, she discovered that three of the pages belonged to the book of Vile Darkness. While she was generously compensated by the Brownoak family, Liliana also acted as a spy, reporting her findings to the Chezucore.
Liliana know the last known location of the complete Book of Vile Darkness was
Thar Amphala, a Necropolis hidden in the Ice-peak Concord territory that was once home to a powerful
Lich.
She is also aware of the Cult of the Damned, a group dedicated to searching for this malevolent book. Liliana has diligently avoided and refused to interact with them, considering them fanatical and obsessed with
Death and everything associated with it.
Meet the advneturers
A group of four adventurers approached Liliana, seeking her expertise to aid in their search for answers about the Book of Vile Darkness. However, due to their lack of discretion, Liliana quickly realized that their actions would draw the attention of the Cult of the Damned—a threat she had carefully avoided for years.
Furious at the disruption to her peace, she sent bandits to eliminate the group while she prepared to erase any traces of her association with the book and flee. From
Ionguale, she traveled to
Nicodranas, where the
Dragonborn wizard,
Anyath of Nicodranas, had revealed her expertise to the adventurers.
In an attempt to silence Anyath, Liliana launched an attack, only to find that the adventurers she thought had been killed were very much alive. They intervened to defend Anyath, forcing Liliana to escape after their confrontation caused chaos in the city. Angered and seeking retribution, she reported the incident to the Chezucore theocracy.
Recent developments caught the theocracy's attention: the Cult of the Damned was actively hunting the adventurers, Anyath had been found dead, the group had seemingly outmaneuvered Liliana, and the Cult of
Vecna was also searching for the Book of Vile Darkness.
Deciding to distance themselves from the book, the yuan-ti abandoned the pursuit of the adventurers. However, Liliana still seeks revenge and has rejoined the Brownoak, determined to thwart the adventurers.
Borwnoak research
Working alongside the Brownoak, Liliana traveled to Uldaman, nestled within the Ice-Peak Concord, to continue her research. Her focus was on an immense vault rumored to contain ancient divine artifacts—perhaps even pages from the Book of Vile Darkness. The Brownoak offered vast sums of gold to the Kingdom of Dark Iron in exchange for access and assistance in exploring the vault.
However, the adventurers struck once more, successfully infiltrating and pillaging the vault. Liliana, along with the king’s guards, managed to capture two of them: Etha and Aelsthim, who were brought before the King of Dark Iron.
When they refused to cooperate with Liliana, the two were sentenced to death. During this sentencing, Liliana's necromantic abilities were exposed, leading to her and the other Brownoak researchers being banned from the kingdom. Liliana stayed long enough to witness the executions, but as Aelsthim’s life faded, his body transformed into a devil.
With his newfound infernal power, Aelsthim slew Liliana and numerous guards before vanishing, teleporting himself, Etha, and their companion
Tanuki—who had joined the battle in an attempt to save them—away from the carnage.
