Characteristics
Physical features
In her humanoid guise, Alexstrasza often appears as a high
Elf with brownish red skin, Only her eyes remain unchanged from her dragon form. Her face appears rounder than any high elf's, almost as if mixed with

Sardior). The Life-Binder has always behaved with dignity, courage, grace, and compassion, even in the face of inconceivable horrors and deep personal loss.
She prefers peace and solitude, although she will defend her lands with all her power against any who threaten them without due cause. She often uses her shapechange power to appear as a creature of nature, in order to see what encroaching mortals will do before revealing her presence. Alexstrasza is devoted to all forests, and to a lesser extent all other types of green and fertile growing things. She considers all natural woodlands her home, and she need fear no beast within such lands. Some elven communities pay her homage. Druids of the wild, in particular, appreciate her serene presence, considering her second in importance only to
Ysera.

When creatures would normally roll one or more dice to restore hit points with a spell or potions, they instead use the highest number possible for each die. For example, instead of restoring 2d6 hit points to a creature, a spellcaster restores 12.
History
Dawn of the Dragon Gods
In Toriel's ancient past, Alexstrasza, her brother Dralad, and her younger sister Ysera were the only three survivors of their clutch. Ysera was sick and smaller than average, and Alexstrasza watched out for her.
Alexstrasza was one of the more intelligent of her clutch and when one of her clutch brothers went missing, Alexstrasza searched to find him and met with
Malygos. The two were attacked by a dragon afflicted by a disease but managed to fend off the threat, following this lead, the two dragon found Dralad, lifeless.
Like the other dragons of that era, Malygos would gather under the command of
Talonixa to combat Sardior. Sardior, the first dragon, afflicted by a disease, grew stronger with every dragon he consumed.
Alexstrasza knew that fighting was the only option, however, she vowed to not fight like Talonixa. When Ysera was given a chance to speak her idea of peace, Alexstrasza was worried about Talonixa's reaction. later when Ysera and Talonixa argued over the fate of those afflicted by the disease. Alexstrasza found herself agreeing with Talonixa over the issue, the afflcited would have to be quarantined or killed for the safety of everyone else.
Bahamut and
Feth'razaal grieving over the fate of their cherished first creation, found themselves unable to destroy him as they were too emotionally attached, the gods couldn't help the dragons.
In due
Time, Malygos found his way to Alexstrasza and Ysera. Malygos afflicted by the disease briefly succumbed to the hunger for flesh, attacked Ysera. However, thanks to Alexstrasza's intervention, Ysera managed to snap Malygos out of his frenzy. Subsequently, Malygos was cured through direct intervention by Bahamut, who bestowed upon him a blessing against the disease.
Alexstrasza, Ysera and Malygos joined with
Nozdormu and
Neltharion, two other powerful dragon, to hunt Sardior once and for all. Forcing him to retreat in a cavern were all five dragon, except for Ysera, began the battle against Sardior, who had grown larger and even more mutated than before.
With a flap of wings, Sardior called up a massive wind that scattered the fighters. Ysera suddenly appeared and Sardior attempted to devour her, but Neltharion silenced his laughter with a mighty blow, pulled Sardior to the ground and began to mercilessly beat him even as Sardior began mutating further.
In the battle, Sardior ripped Neltharion lower jaw, Malygos moved to save him, examining the bloody mess as Sardior roared in triumph and grew ever larger. This bolstered the fighter, that, in a final attempt to protect everything they held dear, and blessed by the two dragon gods, banished Sardior into the void.
After such a feat, the five dragons were blessed with godly power and agreed to protect Toriel. By channeling the power of the two dragon gods, they were able to ascend to godhood themselves.

But the regions corrupted by the demon grew with each passing months, forcing the dragons to join the battle.
With the corrupted regions growing, the dragon God congregated at the lair of Alexstrasza to discuss the coming invasion and what part they should play in defending the world. Neltharion proposed that to end the invasion of demons, the dragon gods should create a weapon with which they could eradicate the demon armies.
Neltharion then convinced Malygos to help him with the other Dragon Gods. All the dragon god contributed a bit of their power in creating the
Dragon soul with the exception of Neltharion. Through the disk, Neltharion was able to magically take control of all other dragons, including the other four dragon gods.

The dragon gods tried to stop Neltharion. Silver dragons surrounded Neltharion in an attempt to take the Dragon Soul from him. With a single command, they were engulfed by the magic of the Dragon Soul and were pulverized. Malygos was also terribly injured, both mentally and physically.
A swing of the Dragon Soul paralyzed all dragons and the dragon gods in mid-air, rendering them unable to move or speak. Neltharion then struck out at the dragon gods, scattering them far across the land. With the help of this power, he captured Alexstrasza.

In the
Highlanders Mountains, Alexstrasza confronted Neltharion. After several minutes of battle, Neltharion and Alexstrasza fell towards the ground, this event is said to be the cause of the formation of the
Insatiable Lake, clutched in each other's claws. Alexstrasza, exhausted and mortally injured, was found laying on the ground, while Neltharion fell out of sight beyond the crest of the mountain.
Calen, Alexstrasza's child, who took elven form, raced to his mother's side. Her voice wavered as she explained that the Earth Warder was dead.
"Neltharion is defeated. Life... must not... falter."— Alexstrasza
She reached out, her trembling hand brushing against Calen’s cheek. Like a phantom, the gigantic form of Neltharion rose up behind them. Calen exclaimed "he lives!" and the wounded Alexstrasza forced herself to sit up, stating that it was "impossible" for Neltharion to have survived the wounds she dealt him.
Neltharion set the ground at his feet aflame and glowered over the group. Calen leaped to shield his mother, his form shifting back into that of a dragon. Though dwarfed by Neltharion, he unleashed a barrage of fire and fury in a desperate attempt to protect her. The ground ignited beneath Neltharion’s feet, his dark aura suffocating all life around him. Calen fought valiantly, but his power was no match for the Earth Warder turned God of death.
Neltharion’s claws descended, piercing Alexstrasza’s heart. The Goddess of Life cried out, a sound that echoed across the planes, her divine essence torn asunder. Miles away, in a serene glade untouched by the chaos, Ysera, staggered as an overwhelming wave of grief and power overtook her. She clutched her chest, her emerald eyes wide with realization. In that moment, the divine domain of Life passed to her, intertwining with her own dominion of Nature.
Back at the Highlanders Mountains, Neltharion roared in frustration as he failed to absorb Alexstrasza’s power. The divine essence had eluded him, finding a new bearer before he could claim it. Enraged and gravely wounded, he retreated into the shadows. Calen, broken and bloodied, knelt at the crater’s edge where his mother had fallen. His cries of sorrow echoed through the desolation, a haunting requiem for the fallen Goddess of Life.
